Forums - Nintendo Discussion - So Nintendo should go 3rd Party, right? What about everyone else?

no, you don't get it, nintendo only has some debatable decent exclusive games, Sony has great console hardware, great exclusives and great 3rd party support, you need all those 3 elements or you're not gonna have success, microsoft - they have the console and the 3rd party games but they have NO EXCLUSIVES, Wii U, they don't have a good enough console, no 3rd party and barely some exclusive games, that's why the ps4 sold more than the wii u and xb1 combined and will keep selling while xbox and nintendo need to come out with new consoles already a.k.a. NX and Scorpio, a.k.a. we failed give us another chance

In it's own Top 20, I don't see a single game that can't be found on another platform, or isn't a re-release from a previous gen.  You can't say that about any other console.  PS4 may have caught fire as "the must have console" of this gen, but it clearly wasn't for exclusives.

I was wondering where Zero's weekly "Exclusives are Anti-consumer" thread was. XD

OT: I don't believe Nintendo should go third party. Pokémon GO is teaching them a lesson on how that turns out (13% of total profit sucks), and if anything it will only drive home their desire to remain on their platforms. Granted GO isn't something that could have been done on anything but a cell phone, it still shows Nintendo what happens when you publish on other people's platforms.

Unfortunately, the lack of sales is what will ultimately make them go third party. Hopefully NX pulls them out of the grave.

Thread title updated to better reflect the OP (and thread origins).

Hold on a second. In another thread you have been in an argument that you can't do anything about how a discussion is framed, but here you are making an adjustment to the thread title. In the other thread the request was to change words like "will" to "may" because the content was not facts but speculation.

Additionally, your update to this thread's title does not reflect the content. It should be something along the lines of:

"If Nintendo is supposed to go third party, shouldn't everyone go third party?"

The main issue Rol though is that the thread title here also had typo's in it and at least one missing word for it to make sense I think CGI was just changing it for the sake of the Hot Topics part of the site being clear for viewers.

You are missing the point.
Having third party developers have nothing to do with your own console exclusives.
It'd be some awesome to be able to play Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Dark Souls and GTAV besides your Mario Kart, Zelda, Monster Hunter or any Nintendo franchise you can think of. Had Nintendo done this before the WiiU would probably be the most sold console. But they didn't. And they haven't. Hence the criticism. The market has changed since the 90's and 2000's and at times it seems Nintendo is not in touch with it.

Not only that but if you look at games like GTAV, Watchdogs and Minecraft all of those titles are also remasters of previous gen console games so it's most like top 15 by his "you can't count those games" logic, not to mention that Ghosts, Battlefield 4, NBA 2k16, Farcry 4, Destiny, Fifa 15/16 and Black Ops 3 are also all available on last generation machines so if you wanted to count out games which isn't on the PS3 completely then you are left with this list basically being 7 games which would count as shots on goal in the mobile goalpost game going on here.

6 games, advance warfare is also on the PS3, so yeah 6 games which could be counted in Ross's logic are top selling titles, I'm trying to see how far down the list of PS4 games you would need to go to find 20 titles not on previous gen systems would wager a lot more than 0 are exclusive.

If you factored out games on Previous Gens and remasters then

Uncharted 4 becomes the number 7th seller on this list (which is at 22 overall)

Infamous Second Son would be number 9 on the list

Killzone Shadow Fall becomes number 11

Bloodborne would be 13

Driveclub is 15

The Order would be 17

Knack would be 19

which in reality sits at 48 but if you count out the previous gen titles then you have to take them out of the top 20 right? can't be having GTA5 on a list but saying The Last of US remastered cant be on there all the while having both titles take up space in that list of 20.

Good point. Maybe we should go ahead and make a new list not counting all of these re-releases... I'm sure a couple of exclusives would worm their way in, then.

ADDED: Uncharted 4 immediately pops up from removal of the two remasters; Second Son and Bloodborne pop up from the removal of games available on previous generations. The number may increase when taking note of the re-releases added into those numbers.

A statement was made that PS4 has "great exclusives".  My point remains that the majority of the people flocking to buy PS4's are primarily buying games that can be played on other platforms (or remasters of previous gen games).  A console with great exclusives should have at least one exclusive (not remasters) in it's Top 20 games sold close to 3 years into its lifespan.  Shuhei Yoshida said himself that he doesn't know why the PS4 is selling so well.  It just happens to be the hot console in the public perception.  It's just ironic that the games being bought the most by the people buying the console can be played elsewhere.

Listed them all above, gets a number of exclusives in that top 20 when you stop filling spaces with games that "don't count" because reasons lol.

How is that ironic? If your mates have a PS4 and are playing Call of Duty of course you are going to buy the game to play with them on the same system.

Where is the irony at?
