Forums - Nintendo Discussion - So Nintendo should go 3rd Party, right? What about everyone else?

Well you know what he means, it is ironic that people say 'people buying consoles in masses for exclusives' but in reality that's far from the truth. This is the same discussion of last generation when people said it was stupid that MS has games that are also on pc and that real exclusives matter, this generation just does what MS did and just like MS it doesn't hurt them. Their is really nobody at Sony who is worried that No man sky being also on PC will hurt the sales of PS4.

Well that doesn't mean Nintendo should try something like that. Can you imagine how poorly games like Mario or Kirby would sell on PC? There's no market for them among PC gamers. PC gamers want gritty adventure games, shooters or action RPGs, not games about plumbers fighting turtles or pink puff balls saving the galaxy.

Well Nintendo could try to get some 'exclusive' pc games on their system. Or fund games that also end up on pc, generations before this one MS did not care if a game also released on PC. sony did it with SFV and it would not have hurt the WiiU if they had SFV.

Nintendo can go third party because their IP's have a little value. The others not so much.

Really? Splatoon is a new IP that sold 4 million copies and was exclusive to a terrible selling console. Mario Kart 8 has roughly 50% of the Wii U userbase. Combined sales of Smash 4 has outsold every other fighting game thay has been on the market over the last several years. Hell, the Wii U version of Smash alone outsold Mortal Kombat X. The truth is Nintendo's games have better sales than the majority third party publishers on the market. So if anything, their IP's have more value than most of everyone else's.

no, you don't get it, nintendo only has some debatable decent exclusive games, Sony has great console hardware, great exclusives and great 3rd party support, you need all those 3 elements or you're not gonna have success, microsoft - they have the console and the 3rd party games but they have NO EXCLUSIVES, Wii U, they don't have a good enough console, no 3rd party and barely some exclusive games, that's why the ps4 sold more than the wii u and xb1 combined and will keep selling while xbox and nintendo need to come out with new consoles already a.k.a. NX and Scorpio, a.k.a. we failed give us another chance

What's that NEO thing again???

it's a HIGH END PS4, is the NX a high end WIIU? NO? DIDN'T THINK SO

In it's own Top 20, I don't see a single game that can't be found on another platform, or isn't a re-release from a previous gen.  You can't say that about any other console.  PS4 may have caught fire as "the must have console" of this gen, but it clearly wasn't for exclusives.

i see 20 games that are not on WII U

30% of sales taken is a massive share, dude.

retail sales cut is 22% between the brick and mortor and distribution costs.

I work in retail. Margin on games is almost non-existent, so I'm gonna call bullshit. Places like my job and Gamestop make money on used titles, peripherals, pre-orders, and protection plans; new games have less than 5% margin.

Thats not always true, i used to work in the EB games factory in New Zealand and i frequently dealt with orders from dealers. I distinctly remember seeing one order of Kingdom hearts 1.5 hd that we bought for 43.00 NZD each and sold in store for 69.99 NZD. Eb games is owned by Gamestop so i can assume similar prices differences.

a nintendo virtual console(for all new and old games) on other consoles, with subscription, but also a proper console for those who dont wat to pay the subscription.

Nintendo is the only console maker with a desirable catalog of IPs. Sony and Microsoft have less franchises, they don't push them hard either (because honestly, Nintendo doesn't push most of theirs either), and they're similar to what's being done by third parties.

Yes, there's a crap ton of 2D platformers out there (specially indie), but there's a lack of F-Zero, Metroid, Punch Out, Smash, Mario Sports, and casual titles such as Brain Training, Dogs, etc.

The new God of War looks very different from what it used to be, Wipeout is dead, Twisted Metal is dead, etc.

Gears and Halo are more shooters, and that's about anything relevant Microsoft has.

In conclusion: If Sony and Microsoft were going bankrupt, not as many people would want them to go third party due to their lack of IPs, and the existent ones being a little too similar to third-party games.
