Do you think Pokemon could work as a live-action film?

Do you want to see this happening?

Who do you think (director/writer) could make an adaptation work?

Well, at least it won't be as bad as the FNAF or Tetris live action movies.

However, I'll take back my previous comment if the Tetris movies turn out to be very kinky.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

It'd probably suck, but I'll keep an open mind for now. Max Landis once wrote a 400+ page screenplay for a Super Mario World movie. That's dedication. It's not the best thing in the world, but it's interesting to say the least. So I think he'd be a good fit.

If you want to read that screenplay: http://www.maxlandiswrites.com/super-mario-world/

bet: lost

Pls no. An fully animated movie, okay. But for the love of God no live action movie pls

I hope not. Live Action is esssh worthy everytime I see an adaption

If I'm Nintendo I'm asking for double what I was asking last week.

Disney should've snatched up the rights to Pokmeon, Smash, Mario, and Zelda movies last year when the price was lower.

I love reading into such news of Hollywood appearing to be "interested" in making movies of some IP that becomes super popular or trending. I see Hollywood directors/execs like this whenever they see a blowup of popularity:

I also remember the times of when Hollywood tried to take a shot at adapting a Japanese IP for the Western side, it went something like this:

Also just to show both sides of the coin, I've been very much into Terra Formars anime since a few weeks ago and then decided to check out how the live action movie held up, truth is it didn't really hold up well at all and ended up looking like this:

I'd rather both Hollywood and Japanese live action film studios just leave animated IP's where they belong. The majority of animation to live action don't really work out as much, otherwise we'd be seeing mass adoption of live action everything and less of CGI/digital/hand drawn animations today if that were the case.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Nah, don't want to see this happening

I'll be honest, as I wrote this thread I was thinking that this live-action film could work under certain circumstances, but now I wonder how they can design Pokemon into real looking versions of themselves, without looking strange and keeping a familiar look.

I fear they will look out of place alongside real actors.

Maybe we could be proven wrong though.

Well, if they make it based on the original Red character from Red/Blue/Yellow, then I will be happy. Legendary typically doesn't make fluffy movies, which gives me hope. If you want fluffy pokemon on the screen, watch one of the bagillion cartoon movies that have been made. Personally, somebody somewhere, in my opinion, needs to make something that appeals to us older fans that have been craving to see a logical evolution of Ash/Red into an adult male with more serious tones that aren't cute. Live action could be the way to do that. A more serious reboot, if you will, that would just be weird to somehow fit into the continuity of the current shows/cartoon movies, clearly all for us older fans.
