Forums - Gaming Discussion - Dead Rising 4 is timed exclusive

Everybody understood when SFV got announced.

The idea of going with the market leader for exclusivity made more sense.  Just like Dead Rising 3, with Xbox presumed to go on to continue its neck and neck battle with PS in the beginning of the gen, made sense.  Now though?  With other timed/Capcom exclusive games not doing hot at all, even SFV? Makes a little less sense.

But you're missing the point. Capcom has gone on record saying DR3 would not have been possible without MS. It's no secret that they've been in financial trouble for years now. Microsoft funded DR3 which is why they published the game. They are not going to allow a game that they're funding to launch on PS4, marketshare be damned. Just look at Sunset Overdrive, Ryse, and Titanfall. I find it amusing that Capcom said they counldn't fund SFV, and that somehow justified not launching on Xbox One. Now we have Capcom presumably unable to fund DR4, and everyone wants a port despite MS funding it (which is most likely the case)? Anyway MS didn't use the "Exclusive to XB1/W10" wording so we don't know where it's going, but still, what kind of double standard is this?

Its not that bad. The dr3 one sold 2ml on xb1.

That figure is helped massively by the fact it was a launch exclusive. Same thing with Killzone

It is the presumably part with DR4 that has the double standard existing.  If they can indeed fund it on their own, then this is a poor decision on their part.  If they can't and MS is getting them over that hump like PS did with SFV, then more power to them.

Can't resent capcom for giving timed exclusivity in trade if someone is willing to pay for the development of their game or help pay for it. Sony has made this sort of deal with other developers before in exchange for different types of exclusivity.

Well they haven't said anything about it yet. We're years into the gen, and RE7 is the only new game that they're developing without help. I don't think the situation has changed that much. Besides, Capcom knows what they need more than people on an internet forum.

Some truth right there.  Especially since their other games even with help haven't fared terribly well.

DR4 will do just fine. Its a bigger series than Tomb Raider and hopefully has a good release window.

The release date killed ROTR not the exclusivity.

it being an exclusive is just stupid. just look at what happened to tomb raider.

but then again this is capcom after all, they have been pretty much whoring out their games.

Talking about Tomb Raider is that game still coming to PS4 at the end of this year ?

Errr no it's not, No game in the Dead Rising series sold more than Tomb Raider 2013... or the original Tomb Raider Trilogy either...

Tomb Raider 2013 did good numbers, I think that it sold over 4 Millions on PC + something like that on the PS4/PS3, + over 2 millions on the Xbox one/Xbox360.

Tomb Raider is much bigger than Dead rising.
