Thank you for numbers Aqua. :)

So Sony is up 35% YoY, nearly outselling Xbox One 2:1, leading in every multiplat split, even Minecraft*, and having two exclusives in the top 10, with one being the top seller of the month... and "no comment." Arrogant Sony is back?? lol

But seriously why would they not at least give their generic monthly PR? They just stop doing that?

*Was that a typo?? Because PS4 is usually last with Minecraft.

In truth I hsve never understood (and still don't understand) the reasoning behind a PR statement at every NPD. Id i were sony or MS stay quiet. All the time. Good or bad that way you don't rope yourself into habing to talk all the time (good or bad) and then becoming a white elephant when you don't.

Keep the PR to milestones. Like somy shouldn't say anything about sales till they hit another Milestone.

We've seen the same thing happening with Lego games recently, after Sony struck a marketing deal with them. I think Sony's targeted efforts at the "kids" demographic has paid off.

The family or kid market is something I've been keeping an eye on recently. Sony have aggresively saught to corner the JRPG market and I think the family/kid market is next in line, and with Nintendo's shrinking audience it makes sense.

Yeah, I can't help but begin to feel that sony is playing all this down to the T like an evil conniving mastermind. They just seem to be doing all the right things.

Even the Neo, sony has practically figured out a way to make a console sku refresh and price it again at $400, while potentially being able to have a similar sku that can play the exact same games and  they could price for as low as $199 if they wanted to. Let the kids and those that just want the games spend $20-$250, and those that wanna feel they have the best hardware that PS has to offer spend $200 more.

Hi guys, I have some sales data that I'll share with you.

But here's the thing....if you're going to share it anywhere (like the OP, on Twitter, on NeoGAF) please mention that it came from Aquamarine.

It depresses me when people just take the data and repost it without giving me any credit. I have a very busy schedule and life and I'm not going to bother to share data if all sharing data does is depress me. I get flashbacks to how horribly I was treated by NeoGAF moderation and...it's tough.

This data, as always, is courtesy of The NPD Group, and my contact and friend at The NPD Group (no, not the FUCKING CEO) who is so gracious to allow me to continue to share data even though he was treated like shit on NeoGAF by the moderators.

And I corrected Overwatch, it's:
"3. Overwatch (PS4 > XBO > PC) : 361K for consoles, 50-100K for retail PC (Diablo 3 sold 550K at launch in Sept. 2013)"

Huh, I expected Uncharted to be pushing over a Million with the bundles.

It's nice to see such a great increase for DOOM though. I imagine it will have done pretty well digitally too, just like Overwatch.

Why would the NEO existing allow them to sell the PS4 vanilla at $199? The NEO wouldn't change production costs of the PS4 vanilla.

And if the report that Sony actually changed to 14nm due to change-ups with prodction at AMD are true, then the NEO will cost less than PS4 vanilla to produce, and was a reactionary move, not a planned one. I personally hope this is the case and would like to see NEO replace vanilla PS4 as the standard model (just like a slim would), while launching at the same price.

Thanks for numbers.

Disappointing Uncharted 4 sales, thought it would at least be in the upper 900k range.

Regarding point 5, is that only due to the game having a large PC share (and PC is obviously almost entirely digitally), or is that regarding console digital sales as well? How did you come to that conclusion if NPD doesn't track digital, and (afaik) the only digital numbers we have for consoles are the US PSN charts?

Maybe he doesn't want to get banned from GAF.

Welfare did quote you properly though. At least he has the balls to do it...

Grand Theft Auto V (PS4 > XBO > 360 > PS3 > PC) is just the ranking of the physical retail sales.

I don't think Aquamarine has access to digital sales numbers.

Edit: Nevermind. It was the other "point 5".
