With sony hitting a wrong direction for me with the mid-tier upgrades I am hoping the future for Xbox looks different, I would definitely switch sides if they offer a solid new console and not a half baked sort of upgrade. Here is wishful thinking!

I think they intend to do both. It will be a new version of the Xbox One with far more power, but the gap in power will make it look like it's own console. They might keep doing this later on, releasing enhanced versions of the Xbox One but otherwise being the same console, hence no more compatibility issues and probably upgrading less often...

Tagging this because I really want to hear some good announcements so I can dust off my X-bone and actually play it after having it for a year and playing it maybe 30 hours total.

Including download and install times.

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

Since Ryse sold over 1.3ml and probably 1.8ml with digital theres a good chance that a sequel is being worked on.

I doubt it honestly. MS was happy with the sales if I remember correctly, but Crytek said they were dissapointed with the sales. There were also multiple reports that said Ryse 2 was cancelled because of a conflict between MS and Crytek, MS was willing to fund Ryse 2 but only in exchange for rights to the Ryse IP supposedly, and Crytek didn't want to sell the IP. Since then Crytek nearly went bankrupt and reorganized into a F2P developer, so it's kind of unlikely that they'd make a AAA game for MS nowadays. Right now they're developing 2 new F2P games (Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age and Arena of Fate) and a VR game (Robinson: The Journey), so they're likely to busy to be developing Ryse 2. Only chance of Ryse 2 is if they did sell the IP to MS eventually and MS found another developer.

If they won't use it they might as well sell it and MS can finally have 343 be known for something that is NOT Halo!

343 work on Ryse? That would be.... interesting.

No information on Scalebound yet?

Regarding this year though, I think Microsoft can take advantage of the somewhat low expectations. After last year's TLG/FF7/Shenmue/Horizon/etc the expectations for Sony's conference is through the roof but Microsoft has been a lot quiter than they use to be and that may prove to be smart.

If none of the big PS rumors turn out true (Dead Don't Ride, Crash Bandicoot, Agent, Kojima tease, TLOU 2 tease, Spidey game from Sucker Punch, big JRPG from Japan Studio, Ape Escape 4, Killzone 4, etc) and they "just" show God of War IV, PlayStation Neo, PlayStation VR and new trailers from already known games (Horizon, Gran Turismo Sport, The Last Guardian, Detroit, Dreams, Gravity Rush 2, Uncharted 4 DLC, No Man's Sky, etc) Microsoft will be able to run with it. I know that'd be the worst case scenario for Sony but they could very likely disappoint many fans by using too much time on Neo, VR, COD, Destiny, etc.

Microsoft on the other hand seems prepared this year if rumors are anything to go by:

Xbox One Slim priced at $250 (40% smaller and no power brick) - Link
Xbox One Scorpio with VR compatibility releasing in 2017 (might not be at this year's E3) - Link
2 new Xbox streaming devices - Link
Xbox OG
 backwards compatibility - Link
Xbox One mouse and keyboard support - Link
Forza Horizon 3 (set in Australia) - Link
Dead Rising 4 (exclusive) - Link
State of Decay 2 (exclusive) - Link
New Battletoads (Rare's new game) - Link
New Age of Empires - Link
Exclusive 3rd party remake (could be Dead Rising 4 though) - Link
Exclusive 3rd party JRPG (could be Project Kyoto from Mistwalker and Silicon Studio) Link
Gears of War 4 (new trailer) - Link
Halo Wars 2 (new trailer + beta + 2016 release date) - Link
ReCore (new trailer) - Link
Scalebound (new trailer) - Link
Crackdown 3 (new trailer) - Link
Killer Instinct Season 1-3 (retail release + new character trailer) - Link
Sea of Thieves (new trailer) - Link
Halo 5: Guardians (PC release) - Link

So if every rumour about new games on Playstation is false, and every rumour about new Xbox stuff is true, MS win.

Ok.

There is no way the only new game Sony will have is God of War IV

I agree. As I said, this would be the worst case scenario for Sony and I don't think that'll happen.

Based on Geoff Keighley and shinobi this year will have one of the best E3s in history (in general, so we can expect nearly them all to do great).

Maybe, although Geoff Keighley always hypes things up.

I find it hard to believe it will be one of the best ever when Nintendo isn't really there. Sony won't match last year, MS might do a bit better
