Not to get lost in all the NX talk...

For the prior quarter January-March 2016:

Operating loss: 86 million dollars (-9.6B Yen), net loss: 216 million dollars (-24B Yen)

Fiscal year: Operating profit 295 million dollars (33B Yen), net profit 149 million dollars (16.5B Yen).

With no NX until late Q4 (if its not delayed), little hardware shipment for Wii U and 3DS and no real game releases for the year, FY17 is going to be a lean year for Nintendo.

Posting a loss last quarter wasn't a good sign, also the yen is strengthening again, which isn't good for Nintendo, could lead to more negative quarters.

2016 is pretty much the worst year for Nintendo that I can remember, now that we know Zelda is not coming.

Bad year... And this year is going to be even worse... It's a terrible time for Nintendo right now...
Will be interesting to see if NX can change it.

Pokemon Sun and Moon... ? As for 3ds, they project 5m, not great but not little as you say, hello 6th year of 3ds...

And this year they originally projected 7.6 million...

Starting to feel Nintendo as we know it is fading away.

You know that Nintendo has not had a correct projection on hardware in 5 years?  No real games includes the "big" releases they have planned for this year.

They might hit the 5m (or could  fail again, albeit  here I commented about 5m sales, in case of managing it,   cannot be considered little in the sixth year of a dying console , so  I don't fathom why you bring me that ! )

The missed 7.6m is maybe due to undershipping, probably owing to the stagnant old 3ds/ xl stock ( Expectedly, people have focused to new 3ds/xl and old 3ds/xl hasn't an attractive low price for budget buyers...) I'm wondering if they will slash their prices to finally get rid of them!

They sold 500k in Japan according to media create for the quarter, and 420k in the USA according to NPD, as for Europe we don't have an official figure... They shipped 810k for the last quarter!  Don't you feel that they're undershipping it?

A 0.9% decrease is expected in net sales, with an operating profit of 45,000 million Yen, around $404.9 million / £277.8 million / €357.8 million, and a net income profit of 35,000 million Yen, roughly $314.9 million / £216.1 million / €278.2 million. Pokemon Sun and Moon and Metroid Prime: Federation Force have been highlighted as key 3DS titles, while amiibo, NX and upcoming mobile titles will also be notable contributors.
