Forums - Gaming - What if Sony is not targeting uninterested PS4 owners for PS4 Neo Adaption? What if they're targeting other console userbase?

Food for thought.

It doesn't really matter if you like it. 99.9% will adapt to it and probably say it's(the graphics) are not that far off anyway. I'm only here for gameplay. It's always like that.

At the end of the day, you're probably not the target audience. Maybe the xbox one disgruntled users who are disappointed at the idea that MS is switching to Windows 10 focus. Or the Nintendo fans who outgrew Nintendo looking for something else. Or even the VR folks. Or the casual.

Sony isn't targeting anyone. They were targeted by companies with overblown ambitions. More downgrading, less power demanding, please. I bet you Square was one of the main culprits begging for more power. FFXV doesn't need to look the way it does, or better. It can look worse, it's more than enough for years. SO5 at 60fps is as good as any jrpg should need to look like this gen. If you go with 30fps, it can look a bit better. Beyond that, it becomes a matter of devs thinking more flash will cover the holes of creativity in their work.
Then you have games like MGS5, U4, etc. Upgrade in 4 years when those games start to look remotely dated or unimpressive, not now.

Sony is 100% targeting the existing userbase, because they know they can. PS4 users seem to care so much about 1080p, imagine how excited they would get over the prospect of 4K or how about take it another (mis)step further...VR in 4K.

Um, I don't follow the tech side of video games, but I can't think of a single time last gen where barely 2 years into a gen you seeing developers ''ask'' for more power. You are right though, the devopers are getting lazy.

It's targeting anybody who doesn't own a PS4 already.

Actually it's targeting current PS4 owners to. Any PS4 owner that upgrades to the PS4 Neo will sell their PS4 for the cheap or even give them away to family/friends.

Wouldn't they have already bought a regular PS4 if they were interested though?

Not to mention I thought this upgrade was supposed to come with a UHD Blu-ray drive. The current information sounds as if it's M.I.A...

I guarantee you that will account for less than 5% of OG PS4 owners lifetime.

I will get a ps4.5 aswell but i might wait a bit. The ps4 seems good enough to me but why not? If all games between ps4 and 4.5 aren't compatible i will be pissed.

It's also targeting anyone that might be tempted by the potential power upgrade of the NX or an updated Xbox 1.5 which is supposedly in prototype phase about now. It's a jump ahead move to stay more relevant than their competitors (and also help with VR), and whether that ends up being a wise or foolish decision we have yet to see.

I'm with Low Wagon though, I don't plan to buy it at launch, unless it starts outputting the big games I own now at 60fps and the equivalent of PC settings on High (which seems doubtful for more than a handful of them).

They are targetting pc gamers or at least try to make pc gaming more irrelavant down the line, which will be the case if you can play Uncharted 4 and Bloodborne like games in 1080p 60fps who would still remain exclusive by the way.

Have you seen FF15? This game looks amazing like i mentioned in my thread, it will benifit greatly on the new hardware,

i am pretty sure if this pressure is relieved with a stronger PS4  Square will downgrade the game a bit to have better performance on the older model just like you are suggesting.
