Sony is 100% targeting the existing userbase, because they know they can. PS4 users seem to care so much about 1080p, imagine how excited they would get over the prospect of 4K or how about take it another (mis)step further...VR in 4K.

I bet you Square was one of the main culprits begging for more power. FFXV doesn't need to look the way it does, or better. It can look worse, it's more than enough for years. SO5 at 60fps is as good as any jrpg should need to look like this gen. If you go with 30fps, it can look a bit better. Beyond that, it becomes a matter of devs thinking more flash will cover the holes of creativity in their work. Then you have games like MGS5, U4, etc. Upgrade in 4 years when those games start to look remotely dated or unimpressive, not now. |
Um, I don't follow the tech side of video games, but I can't think of a single time last gen where barely 2 years into a gen you seeing developers ''ask'' for more power. You are right though, the devopers are getting lazy.
