Forums - Nintendo - I wish the Mega Man and Donkey Kong franchises weren't so hard so I can play/love them.

This is one of the reasons why is dislike very difficult Video Game franchises. Like whats the point of buying a game so you can have fun then rage quitting from frustration because the levels are impossible to beat?

It hurts me alot to see such AMAZING Video Game franchise's go to waste like this for me.

Why do they make games hard but it upsets the person? Why make a video game when you cant even beat it?  I honestly tried to love Donkey Kong when playing the games but the games were so hard I literally trashed up the disc and cover and threw it in the garbage. If they made the game's difficulty lower I would've bought every game and loved the franchise forever. Maybe Donkey Kong Tropicial Freeze would've sold more if the difficulty was easier. Nintendo needs to "please understand" that we dont live in the 80s/90s anymore  So they can actually make Donkey Kong enjoyable now.

This is the main reason I'm bringing up this topic... I was playing Super Smash Bros Wii U again first time in a month and I came across this BEAUTIFUL Mega Man soundtrack... It actually made me wanted to play Mega Man games... but I couldn't. Because the last Mega Man game I got was too damn hard and I couldn't play anymore due to frustration.

Like look.. if you're going to make a hard ass game... Let us choose the difficulty so everyone wins. What's so hard about that?? Video games are meant to be fun. NO ONE in the world says "oh look, i'll spend $60 just to get pissed off" no says that ever. But THATS what you're pretty much doing when you make unbeatable levels. Just because of this reason I won't give Capcom any of my money. Mega Man will always be on of those games I could've spent hundreds of dollars on and love it forever. Dont you kinda think maybe THATS the reason why Mega Man games aren't being made anymore? due to lack of money, and lack of money means lack of sales, lack of sales because their games were too hard and most people didn't like them.

I'll never get why video games do this. I hear people say "Well it gives discipline of real life"................ That's so ignorant I'm not even going to comment. And look its not just me. Its thousands of other people too. Look up "Donnkey Kong Tropical freeze easy mode" there's ALOT of people asking if there's an easy mode so they can enjoy the game. Look up "Mega man/Donkey kong too hard" there's soooo many results that pops up  and dont ban me.  I'm giving my opinion about a subject that bothers me. I'm not saying stuff like "this game is trash! fck this game, aarrggg". If you do consider this rant... Rants are a good thing. It lets your voice be known and people will know about it. If people disagree (which I hope they wont)  they're comment theirselves. So there's no point banning me.

Hey Capcom. You just released Mega Man Legacy Collection? What?... oh  you want me to buy it? MAYBE IF YOUR GAMES WERE EASIER I WOULD'VE BOUGHT OUR WHOLE FRANCHISE. SAME GOES TO YOU NINTENDO.

Anyways maybe I'll give Mega Man another chance. Or maybe I'll just hack the game myself make it the game it the game where its fun for the millions of casual gamers.

Haha I knew this was gonna be your thread.

Git gud or don't play it. Sorry.

Virtual Console games usually have the ability to savescum (save wherever and whenever you want), that takes away a lot of the difficulty. And if not, there's always emulators to create save states. It doesn't always work, but it definitively takes away a big chunk of the difficulty.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

So useful for DK 64. I don't know how people 100% that game on the actual system, like Jesus lol.

I did ^^

OP: those games are hard, yes. But I always felt sooooooo satisfied when beating them. It's a feeling that cannot be achieved by playing easy games. You need to experience it yourself. Compareable would be the Star Road in Super Mario World, have you finished those levels?

Back in my day, most kids didn't have more than 5 games per system. For the N64, I had Pokémon Stadium, Pokémon Snap and DK 64. So, we had to squeeze the games we had to the max, in order to make them the longer we could. That's how, at least me, managed to 100% DK 64.

Back on topic, you're just asking a franchise to be something that it's not. Which is not right, because said franchise has a fanbase that would piss off if his beloved franchise known by its challenging difficulty became an easy peasy game.

That being said, I recommend you getting the VC version of Megaman, either on 3DS or Wii U and DKCR on 3DS. The first have savestates, which as said above, makes the game a lot easier, and DKCR 3DS has an easy mode that gives you an extra heart. Which does not help at all with falls (the main reason of dying in this game), but hey, it's something.

These games are the pinnacle of platforming and you want them ruined and made easier, god forbid a game be challenging

Mega Man isn't hard. Once you get a hang of it, you'll get through the games easily, even without getting hit once and stuff like that. Figuring out how to beat the game is most of the fun. There's no point in an too easy Mega Man game, because there's not too much content. You would just rush through it in 2 hours and never touch it again. Because of the difficulty however, you'll get back to it again and again. You try to beat it without power-ups, you change the order in which you beat the robot masters and so on. There's endless replayability, which wouldn't be the case if the game was easy.

I didn't play Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze. However, the games on SNES were pretty easy. DKCR was a little harder, but not too much. For me the most difficult thing was that friggin' shakin' to to a roll. That was just not precise in any way and often ruined my gameplay. The 3DS version is better because of that and also easier.

I get that not everyone likes hard games, that's fine. But that doesn't mean that every game has to be easy. The difficulty is a key part of the gameplay in some games and an easy mode would totally destroy what the developer was trying to do. The challenge is the whole point in such games. So if you wanna play those games, git gud. Else, play other games. There are plenty easy games.

I also don't think that options for difficulties are the solution for everyone and everything. The problem is that the game gets dumbed down. It just isn't designed for a specific difficulty and as a player, you very much notice that. Games like Uncharted aren't hard because of a tricky level design or intelligent AI, but just because they throw countless bullet sponges at you while you can take only a single hit. In such cases, luck is a big factor. Which should never be the case. Hard games should always be fair and success should be only a matter of skill. That is only possible if the developer designs a game for a specific difficulty.

At least that's how I see it. =P

Is this a joke thread or no?

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.
