Forums - Nintendo - Emily Rogers rumor: Zelda U to have a playable female, fully voice acted, releasing NX and Wii U

This has nothing to do with political correctness. It's all about choices and broading the player's horizon. You can pick up what you want at the start: male or female. There's your option there if you want Link to be male. For the rest who want Link to be female, there's the option as well. You might find it wrong, but there's nothing wrong about it in itself.

Gamers don't develop Zelda games. Nintendo does. If Nintendo sees fit making a Zelda game, then we would gladly purchase it. If they don't, we're stuck with what they give us. Nintendo thinks it's a good idea (it is, it's actually great) to include a female main character in the new Zelda game, which can potentially be female Link (Unconfirmed yet).

Yeah, Samus is female. A transgender female, that's it.

That came out of nowhere haha.

I agree with all you said. I think that broaden the player's choices is always good, as long as they fit the franchise lore, and this is the case so I don't see anything wrong with it. Also, people who isn't fan of the female Link option, could always play with a male Link. I'll play with male Link not because I don't support the "female" Link option, it's just because it's more inmersive for me. So it's cool that females could have that option too.

Just checked it now, and my god thats true.Didnt play MGS V yet, so thats why I didnt know. But its not a similar case as in she is unlockage after you do certain conditions. So you need to play as normal Snake until you can unlock it.You dont start with that option. It would be an extra.Subtle difference, but still different.

Like I said to Volterra, story-wise it is possible to make Link into a female caracther. But Link has always been historically a male. For almost 30 years. Why make this change without a very good reason? It would be better, story-wise and to make fans happy, just to make a new female protagonist if thats the case(if they wanted to go with a female protagonist).

Another example would be(dont know if you are a fan of Metroid) if that false rumour about Samus was true(about she being transgender).I mean, we never looked down there. And they could very well create a past for her that would justify that. They could do that but you know, it wouldnt be that popular.

No. This is patently untrue.

You can play missions as any of the prisoners you rescue, male or female. Black, white, or asian. Blonde, Brunette or Ginger. None of these characters get any type of special treatment. There is no such thing as FemSnake.

These prisoners do not replace Venom Snake in any way shape or form. If you are referring to the polygon article, the author just took one of the female rescued prisoners and randomly decided she was the female version of Venon Snake, and pretended that was a fact from there. This is that author's headcanon, nothing more.

Good to know, but thats as far as I go, because I didnt play the game, and I will later this year

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

This is 100% false. Where are you getting this nonsense from?

Huh, I'm dead wrong now that you mention it. I thought you could edit Snake at the beginning to be a woman, but apparently women are restricted to the online mode, the main campaign only allows for a male avatar. My apologizes.

Voice acting for all but Link? Way to take the immersion out of the game...

You're not technically incorrect, as I edited my post with a spoiler to discuss, but it's a big stretch to say you're playing as a female Venom Snake.

Have you played Half-Life 2? It can work like a charm if you do it correctly.

No shit XD. So that didn't come out of nowhere. I wouldn't mind if that was confirmed, tbh, but that's another story for another day lol.

I know it was a stretch, I just tried to point out that a FemSnake wouldn't be incompatible with the Metal Gear Solid universe, just like a Female Link isn't with Zelda's one.

But, still, I'm wrong with that example. I check back my own file and yup, you can't edit the Singleplayer MGSV avatar to be a female, you're always stuck with the male option. You can only edit it on the online portion of the game.
