As they should. The Wii U is basically a zombie at this point. Just let it rest and focus all your efforts on the NX and bringing in as much software and 3rd party support as possible. No more long software droughts!

After all the indicators that have come up in the past 12 months from even financial reports from AMD and another company if someone truly believed NX being out this year wasn't a very big possibility than they have themselves to blame if this news hits them hard.

Can you give links for those statements since he said they had unannounced titles for the Wii U and 3DS not just the Wii U and that was before TPHD and PMCS were announced and he said he wanted more games like Splatoon and Mario Maker he didn't say anything about those beign on the Wii U.Nintendo also said that the DS was not going to replace the GBA and that TP was GC exclusive and we all know how that ended up.
Zelda is totally going to be like Twilight Princess all over again. Limited Wii U release, probably even after the NX version, lol.

Kinda funny/sad that XB360 and PS3 are still being produced whereas Wii U basically isn't. This gen has been a complete disaster for Nintendo, if I could post on this board 4 years in the past and tell everyone, lol, no one would believe it.
