Really doesn't matter - Nintendo will have lost a staggering amount on the console, and kicking it in the head now only makes sense.

You do know they are profiting, right?

Not on the Wii U.

a) With the Wii U Nintendo had several finanical quarters at a loss.
b) Considering R&D etc, they will not have broken even with it. (Net, not gross, profit)

Nintendo has had 2 years of losses, one of which was before Wii U even released.

Isn't Miitomo also really taking off?

A million users and an 8% rise in stock, and it's only released in Japan.....

Market pentration in Japan isn't a sign that it will do well elsewhere. Also, if you look at the mobile market app, a million users is tiny as there are over a billion android devices alone.

Still for what they spent on the app, and it only being out for a short time I htink it's increadibly easy to say it's going to turn a pretty big profit for Nitnendo.

Not really as it's a freemium model, so the actual revenue of it is very hard to predict - look at all the free-to-play MMO's that tanked in a matter of months. While the running cost of the app will be low, the revenue from it is likely to be low as well due to the fact that it's Playstation Home all over again (zero game content), which was a staggering failure.

Interesting point. Hopefully we'll hear something about it next month.

*edit* Also, the million users were within 3 days of it on market.

Yeah, just continuing the idea of how Nintendo is back in profitability.

Except no one was talking about Nintendo being in profit. It was about whether the Wii U made a profit. Miitomo =/= Wii U

"Nintendo has had 2 years of losses, one of which was before Wii U even released."

Not Wii U, Nintendo.

It's arguably the biggest console failure in recent time as it sold at a slower rate than the Dreamcast.

Wii U outsold the Dreamcast.

"But Dreamcast reached 9 million faster" is ultimately pointless. Wii U sold faster than PS3 and 360 at first, doesn't mean it was more successful than those consoles overall.
