Wii U outsold the Dreamcast.

"But Dreamcast reached 9 million faster" is ultimately pointless. Wii U sold faster than PS3 and 360 at first, doesn't mean it was more successful than those consoles overall.

My comment didn't mention sale amount. The Wii U sold SLOWER than the Dreamcast, which makes it a pretty staggering failure.

Actually market velocity is an incredibly important factor, and the fact the Wii U has sold at such a dismal rate through the majoirty of it's life means that it would seem to be sensible for Nintendo to cease production of it this year.

Which system made it to an arbitrary sub-total more quickly is trivial, fact is that Wii U both outsold the Dreamcast and remained on the market longer.

Wii U is not as big a failure as the Dreamcast. No amount of trying to twist the facts can change that.

I believe Gamecube was outpacing Playstation 3 for some time as well, just shows how comparing sales over a certain time frame doesnt isnt the most effective way to predict sales.

Because people buy Nintendo consoles to play Nintendo games. Dont you think they would make even more money if more people would buy the consoles and the exclusives?

So you really think the WiiU would become popular from a 100$ price drop? I think Nintendo would lose more money.

1 nintendo game sold would be enough to offset the loses of a 100 price drop, they also selling the wii u at a profit. Yes more people would buy it just as much as they did with the wii or the NX which will cost cheaper at launch than the wii u

Wii U sold faster than PS3 and 360 initially also.

I don't think anyone would argue at this point that Wii U was a success, but trying to paint Dreamcast as more successful is ridiculous.

But the Dreamcast was more successful. Gamers hold it in higher regard than the Wii U.

Lol and 15 years from now Wii U will be the most underrated console of all time!!!!!!!!!

By that logic Dreamcast was more successful than the Wii. :P

By that logic Dreamcast was more successful than the Wii, but nobody with a lick of common sense would try to claim that.

He was joking ?

Yeah, I realized that in retrospect and edited my post.

NX backwards compatibility confirmed?

Also, depending on current inventory levels and how many more they plan to produce up until December 2016 this does not mean that the Wii U won't be readily available in stores for a long time to come. I certainly don't think it means the NX will come out in 2016.

Atari 2600, NES, SNES, Genesis, Playstation, N64, PS2, PS3, Wii, XBox 360, PS4 are the only "successful" consoles.

You gotta sell 30 million minimum to be in that club and even the N64 and the 2600 are debatable.
