10% should not be for all games. Its not enough for new releases.
Its good that this is something they are thinking about though.

All we know for certain people often trade games for less at Gamestop. |
I can't recall a time somebody's has only gotten 10% value at Gamestop. For new games it's usually 30%, and even for crappy old shovelware they're giving you around 20% at least, even if you're only getting a dollar.
OT: This IS a neat idea but it won't do too well for consumers until the game is low in value. Theoretically I could sell back my $60 digital copy of Halo 6 for $6 way down the line and make back much more than 10% of the current value. I think there will be a limit on how long you can wait to sell back for 10% of the original purchase price, otherwise Microsoft will get bit in the ass like two years after they enact this. Then again, maybe the extra revenue from digital sales will make up for the minority of owners that sell back?
You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt! I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading. After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

I dont see it as a benefit of digital games per se, more like having no choice and having to deal with it because i live in a third world country. If i had the choice, i would go physical 100% of the times when available. You can also share games with the Ps4, but it is too limited. |
limited? We buy all new games for £25. It saves us a ton of money.
I'd still buy physical over digital 95% of the time, but hey, I'm not complaining if they give any sort of resale value for digital games. Anything is better than currently nothing.
Physical copies can be traded for nearly half of it's full retail price. The more popular the game the longer the trade in value and resale value stays up there.
The trading in or reselling of digital copies needs to at least match or better yet, beat the trade in of physical copies. Otherwise what's the point of it other than being a token gesture/pr move.

Jesus Tapdancing Christ, no. I only sell/trade the games I revile, which almost never happens. Bethesda and Gearbox games are the only ones I've sold due to spite/hate, and I just avoid those devs now. And at that price? Better than nothing, but not good enough.

I wouldn't unless I knew I was 100% done with a game and never going to play it again. Seeing as I am completely digital now, I wouldn't mind a program like this (or ideally a better one).
What would be better is if you could share any game that you bought with at least one other friend and/or gift it to them when you are done playing it.
A "fair" percentage totally depends on the age of the game. If it was released within the last 12 months, the percentage should be at least 40% IMHO. But if it is 2 - 3 years old, 30% would be acceptable, 4 - 5 year old games 20 - 30% and older games 10 - 20%.
Fill me in, why are they even considering this? They're gaining what? Are you winning 10% but losing a game while Microsoft loses? Is there a stock limit of digital games? I don't understand.
