Oh and honestly. Tekken is the only fighter game i play so i wouldnt be buying the game but i only found out the game had released 20 minutes ago after coming to this site. I don't even play xbox and i knew when tomb raidder was releasing because every 10 adverts on telly showed 1 rottr ad.

In case you forgot, people felt RotTR was sent to its death by launching the same day as Fallout 4 and near other major titles.
SFV had no signficant competition I can think of.

Why would SF be the most famous fighting game title in history when it has never sold as much as Smash or even tekken ?
Edit : Seems that SF2 did better. Forgot that there were so many versions of the game. Still I am almost sure that Tekken is ahead as a franchise.

Street Fighter was and is a multiplatform game since the age of 16 bit (and even 8 bit). So it was basically present in every gen. This is what to me counts more into being famous instead of just sales.

Unfortunatly it did not have significant competition but it did have mediocre reviews (by the franchise standard). I wouldent call it a bomb, but SF5 underperformed no matter how we look at it. It will still easily pass the 2 million sales LT on PS4 alone, but I have a feeling Capcom was planning a 4-5 million seller here. Sure it still has the PC version + some life ahead of it, but the opening week was weak.
Never the less, Im predicting LT SF5 will probably outsell RotTR, but it wont be a big victory. Luckily both games came from publishers whom can afford a less then stellar launch, and both franchises will go on.
