can't be wrong on my opinion, I think it's the worst practice this generation, you can't change that, your opinion does not invalidate mine, that's the truth in my opinion, therefore, nope, I'm not wrong on that count.

No. Your opinion is wrong. There's no two ways about it.

The fact that one ability, UFO, that HAS NOT BEEN IN THE LAST SIX KIRBY GAMES, is incredibly rare, has to be abadoned most times since you can't go up doors or ladders and and Nintendo added in a new ability to its repotoire (Tractor Beam) and is locked by Amiibo is worse than say, Arkham Knight being completely unplayable at launch?

On one hand, you have a complete game with an uncessary bonus item that is overpriced, on the other you have a game that doesn't work.at all. for 60$

If you think the former is worse than the latter, then you're 100% wrong.

There are literally dozens of shitty practices done by publishers that dwarf amiibo in terms of shittiness OBJECTIVELY.

It's spawing from all kinds of content lock you can imagine already, and now it has gone so far as to take an ability Kirby already had on other games and just lock it away from people without the new amiibo for the new Kirby game, fucking locking an ability away from you if you do not buy a physical toy for $13, that if you are playing with a N3DS, because if you have a 3DS you'll also have to pay more for a separated accessory to make the amiibo work on it.

Seriously, how can this complete shit practice Nintendo has been pulling on you guys have been so widely successful? That's the very worst kind of DLC/content lock to ever happen, locking you from things in your game behind a physical object (which even has stock issues to make it worse for you to even be able to get that content) that you have to pay A LOT for, seriously, if you have a 3DS and want that UFO ability you already had prior also in this new game you have to cash in another $13 for a toy plus $25 or so for an adapter if you still didn't got it, that's from $13 to almost $40 bucks to get access to a freaking ability Kirby has already had, that's as high as the price of a brand new game not so long after launch, for a freaking ability ripped away from the game just to scam you!

Amiibo is a cancer to the gaming industry, a fucking big and ugly tumor, and I can't believe I see people talking others are overreacting when we are actually underreacting, but keep letting it go, "it's not much" afterall, right?

I'm afraid of what'll come for the new Pokemon games, amiibos locking some Pokemon behind it? Maybe the Legendaries? A new Pokemon type only available by amiibo? Get you amiibo to unlock access to the league!? I can't wait!
It'll only keep growing to the worst kinds of locks as soon as you keep supporting this shit, open your eyes.

Fucking awesome, just awesome.

Voted for shit a few hours ago. Great post by the way.

simple to get over this amiibo - if you don't like DLC/micro transactions and figurine toys, don't buy it. it is DLC on a toy and that is how Nintendo wanted to market it. a design done by Nintendo and the cretors of Skylanders, and others.

while other publishers have its own way of DLC, it is basically similar.

the plus is you'll have a toy, if you don't like it then just don't buy it.

don't support DLC/micro transactions as well.

The problem there is that without it something that was once in-game will not be in the game.
It grows further than just ignoring the DLC if it's extra stuff you don't want, when it's a part of the game tied to it, in this case an ability which was already in the Kirby series just like any other, which now is tied to a toy.

There is no easy path around this one, if you don't want it and just avoid it, you are accepting losing part of your game for not paying more; if you buy it you are supporting the idea of tying content of the game to an extra cost for the company; and if you ultimately just want the feature and would pay a DLC price for it, you still can't, you have to pay for the whole toy anyway to get that ability, if that's the only thing you want as a gamer, not a figurine collector.

Do you understand it? It's a horrible practice for a gamer only and not also a figurine collector, and it's potentally scalating.

So wait, is Kirby not able to take anythings power without an amiibo? Or is it just character specific powers?

People on VGchartz are defending on disc DLC because of a plastic figurine? For 15 bugs I could buy either DC bikes or Bloodborne the old hunter. Which offers way more than this.

Again, I'm talking about Amiibos here, you tried to get me into some meaning there is simply not present on the concept of the thread or the title, I'm talking about Amiibo, Amiibo started this generation, that's it, there is nothing wrong with what I'm saying, and I don't need to deny things I never even mentioned.

I'm blaming Nintendo for a Nintendo product practice, it's as simply as this, and it's no more than this.

And what I am telling you, is that acting like Skylanders doesn't exist completely kills your argument.

Skylander is restricted to one game as is Disney Infinity. Nintendo tries to milk Amiibo across every franchise they have. That is a huge difference and just because another company does something, doesn't mean you should shamelessly copy it and make it even worse.

Yeah, but the Wii U games don't require the amiibo to play the game, like Skylanders or Disney Infinity (except for maybe Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival, not sure). Which is strange that optional figurines for games would be worse than required...

It's worse because you need it for so many Nintendo games. If I dint want to play skylanders or Disney infinity then dont buy it. But Nintendo are tying amiibo content to almost every game. Locking content in  many games behind an expensive toy.

"but other publishers do this that and this" is not a defence, and I'm not sure why you're trying so hard to defend cause all you're doing is trying to make other companies sound worse rather than addressing the issue.

Fucking awesome, just awesome.

I made a similar thread discussing this a month ago, but I went the proactive route and tried to discuss different options Nintendo should have done. You can give your own suggestions there if you like.

I dont really care because the Amiibos are junk DLC in my opinion.

I rarely buy DLC as is.

maybe junk but at least you get a toy out of the DLC...compare to other company like MS and the other you get nada. IMO

This is terrible logic you've demonstrated here.

First of all, I PERSONALLY don't want any of those toys. In recent year I've tried to reduce the amount of crap I have, not add stupid toys with useless DLC in my life.

You when I buy DLC from a company like MS I get "nada." If I'm getting nada, why would I buy the DLC?

That the difference. I buy DLC for content that may improve a game for me. People buy Amiibos because they love plastic toys.

I still think it´s a better idea than, for example, Disney Infinity or Skylanders

Skylanders and Disney Infinity are somewhat annoying because you MUST have a few figures just to be able to play the game, most of the times you need at least three of them. But in order to try every hidden level of a certain game you need A LOT of them. Also, some figures only work on specific games.

Amiibos, on the other side, are not mandatory. You can enjoy every game without it. The only exception, so far, is the dissapoiting Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival, where at least one amiibo is required. And amiibos work with several different games, in two different systems. Of course, not every game makes a good use of amiibos, but again, they´re not mandatory.
