They are at over 250m as of June 3, 2015.

Skylanders are really another kind of beast. They are cheaper I think though.

Actually about the same price, the difference is number of platforms. Amiibo are just available for Wii U & 3DS, Skylanders are available for Wii, Wii U, 3DS, 360, XB1, PS3, PS4, iOS, Android.

This is really impressive. It goes to show that they have tons of potential to expand Amiibos on Europe. 



Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

but yeah it just seems like everyone from hardcore to casuals are buying them up and it doesnt seem to be stopping anytime soon

heck even the card based amiibos are selling tons

 

And those are just the Animal Crossing Franchise which only works for 2 AC spin off games. Imagine Nintendo doing it with Pokemon!!!!!!!

Yes Skylander was a different thing - I mean they were the game - Amiibo are a side part of the game.

You don't need them to play any games.

I wonder if those 9.9 mil are including those AC amiibo cards which are much cheaper!
