I saw a crap load of requests for it last year, is anybody planning on doing similar threads for XB1, PS4, 3DS, and/or Vita? If not, I could do them.

I won't do them, thats for sure.

You should adjust the numbers in the 2014 vs 2015 thread first. There is little point in starting a new one if you don't, as it's clear that the data won't be reliabe, especially because VGC has been overtracking Nintendo consoles for a while now.

Let's go! I think 2016 will be great, people will be tired of their xbox/PS4 and the Wii U has a great library of games. Splatoon and Mario Maker makes some nice free marketing for nintendo and Nintendo supporting Genesis 3 is a great move as well!

Yes 2016 WiiU will outsell PS4 that much is certain.

Oh, the irony xDDDD. 2016 could possibly be the WiiU's weakest year. Once they announce the NX, sales coud go down a lot. And it's not like there's a lot of software releasing this year. I only see two games with potential to move sales, Zelda U and Pokkén.

Well, Zamieh seems to think there will be a big tide change.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

We're off to a good start, let's hope for the best and see if the Wii U can stay flat yet again!

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

To each his own, I guess xDDD. I'm willing to bet that this year would only prove PS4 destroying the rest of them. That's almost a given. Nintendo is finishing the WiiU cycle, XBox doesn't quite find its place, and there are no game-changing on course to prove this wrong.

2016 1st half will be the best half year Wii U ever had, and the second half will be the worst it ever has when NX launches in November 2016 (my prediction). It's one thing to say a rumor is incorrect, it's quite another when like every alleged leak and rumor that comes out suggests that it's coming this year.

Well, NX will come this year (or early next year if delayed). But it will be a handheld or the handheld-component of a combined system. No home console this year.

my greatest games: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023

10 years greatest game event!

bets: [peak year] [+], [1], [2], [3], [4]

This is kind of like saying an morbidly obese man is doing ok because he managed to match the 3 sit ups he did last year.

The Wii U is doing ok relative to the Wii U ... but lets not get it twisted, the "Wii U average" is crap, it far and away the worst selling Nintendo home console ever and selling 3 million-ish a year is not enough to sustain an HD ecosystem in the modern business sense. Shit, I don't think that would be viable even in the SNES days.

The Wii u average is crap, but they are still profiting off of it.  When you actually go ahead and spend the research and development that necessitates making a console, you want to make as much back from that as you possibly can. Replacing it now would be stupid.

Its all dependant on opportunity cost though

If sacrificing the Wii U's longevity meant providing their next console with higher potential to profit, compete and be a much bigger success, then its worth cutting of its life early. The GBA was cut off early by the DS, but it was certainly worth it. The Xbox OG by the 360, but  again it was worth it. Had Microsoft waited another year, they may have faired far worse.

None of us are sure of what Nintendo's plans are with the next system and that'll obviously affect when best to launch.

I will dont worry.

This is slightly off topic but is someone gonna do a ps4 and xbox one comparison like last year since we already have the wii u ?
