Should Nintendo make an M-rated IP?

What would an M rated game bring that another game can't? Adding nudity/sex overt blood/gore and language do not add anything to a good gaming experience. I just don't see the appeal of having an M label on a game and how that would make it better.

They should have had one like 10 years ago. They did actually have Perfect Dark and Conker before they decided to sell Rare.

Actually Rare had to self-publish those titles

Honestly I think Nintendo should start making more T rated games instead of M rated.

Or at least games with a more "serious" approach. Right now, some of their games goes from silly to "kiddy". It doesn't have to be bloody and gritty, but not every cloud needs a happy face.

Honestly, I think the biggest boon would be a bigger appeal of Nintendo products with kids/teens (ironically enough since kids/teens want to consume things that they think adults and grown ups do).   It wouldn't be a surprise to me if despite Nintendo's insistnece on creating a child/family friendly image, that a large majority of the people who buy Nintendo consoles are adults with no children.

They can do for example a dark scarier Metroid/Zelda game. Remember that Twilight Princess is rated T. With an M rate they could have gone farther.

It doesn't need to be sex or gore.

I don't think they need to, but with most people, I would love to see what they would do with such a title. Especially if it was one of Nintendo's EAD groups.

Nintendo should make games they are comfortable developing. If they want to create a rated-M game, then they will. I mean, they created a rated-T Zelda game and they've released a few Metroid games that were rated-T so they are not afraid to go beyond the rated E for everyone rating. Heck, the Mother games are darker games than people realize. Even some of the "kiddy" games like Mario Galaxy and Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze aren't really kiddy at all.

Just developing a rated-M game for the sake of it would not do them any favors. I agree that they can use their second-party developers to create such games. Fire Emblem, Metroid, and, maybe, Golden Sun can be utilized to test the waters. While games like Fatal Frame and Bayonetta are great to have, they don't make much of an impact for core gamers. If they did, then more people would've bought the Wii U for those games by now.

They should make as many M-rated games as they do the other types of games but that won't happen. Lately, they've been censoring content in games. That's one my main problems with nintendo's consoles. Way too tame for my liking.

Another reason I shifted from JP to MS consoles... they censor EVERYTHING!
