@starcraft: Well, was vgchartz ever been proven to be closer? Becouse the only thing I read is that some people occasionaly tell that NPD was wrong but I haven't seen them explain why they think so. Even through I've asked them to explain their position they couldn't give me any details. I've also haven't seen ioi to comment on this (I sometimes browse his post history and becouse he doesn't post that much the chances to see such a post would be quite good if he did). So maybe you could explain me on what do you base that NPD was wrong.

why not just wait for quarterly shipment reports,

which A tell us if we are overtracking by shipped inventory being smaller than what we claim sales are

Or B tell Us we are good based On theoretical % of units still in transit or in inventory.

these quarterly reports, can not be lies, they may differ in methodology of whats shipped, but it would be against the law for them to lie, because of duties to stockholders, and trade laws

NPD screwed up quite a bit last time over, and underestimating consumer demand Vs avalible units

Frankly, even with people 'bashing' VGC, every one of them will still again that VGC's number is MUCH better than some 'theoretical %' you add to shipment number.

Especially when Sony and Microsoft will for sure dump TONS of console to retailers in order to meet their fiscal goals
