It's only one of the many cases around the world. My dad gave me sometimes more painful punishment than this ( but only when i did something wrong like breaking something inside the house). Yet we still have a good relation, since I understand he punished me for some reason. And btw in almost every asian country parents punish their children physically.

Well my dad didn't do that kind of things. But when I got a punishement I would feel the pain for several days. You could see the scars on my foot. But he's my father after all. And that's how his dad raised him too. However for my own kids I would use a less painfull punishement.
