Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Woolly World on track to outsell Tropical Freeze

Nintendo's latest numbers put Yoshi at 1.31 million; they still haven't given numbers for Tropical Freeze, but VGChartz has it at 1.35 million.

Given the margin for error, Yoshi may well have outsoid Tropical Freeze already, and if it hasn't, it will soon.

And this is not to hate on Tropical Freeze.  We have to keep in mind that Woolly World is doing extremely well and it might be the 2nd biggest sleeper hit on the Wii U next to Splatoon.  Woolly World is going to blow past 2 million easily and it might even be a threat to Yoshi's Story's 2.85 million depending on how its legs hold.  There's something about Woolly World... I think it's making some significant inroads with the non-gamer crowd because of its yarn asthetic (its cover art is basically a stroke of marketing brilliance).  For example, I was playing games with a female, non-gamer friend back over Christmas and somehow she outright hated Mario Kart 8 but loved Wolly World.  Anybody who is into knitting or any kind of arts and crafts is going to be immediately drawn in by this game.

Tropical Freeze is probably the better technical platformer, but there is no way that it can compete with the "Nintendogs" casual-factor that Woolly World is getting a bit of a boost from.  It doesn't help that Woolly World is also a decent platformer in its own right that's going to win over a fair number of the hardcore fans who also bought Tropical Freeze.
