Forums - Nintendo - Is Smash Wii U the "Final Fantasy VII" of the Smash series?

I still haven't recovered from how bad the musical selection of some franchises was in this entry... also Smash Tour is bullshit and we don't have story mode. So no.

It has Cloud, so it's LITERALLY the FFVII of Smash Bros.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Still like melee the most.

Melee will always have that "legacy". To be honest I really don't like Smash U, it feels very... meh, barely above the N64 version. The lack of any Adventure Mode or SSE really made me disinterested in it after a few hours

EDIT: I forgot how pissed I was that literally 50% or more of the stages are just reused from Brawl...

FFIX is much better though..

yes, now Super Smash Brothers Wii U/3Ds is better than SSB Meele.

-Sonic, Pacman, Megaman, Mario( I hope in the next smash 5: Rayman, Crash Bandicoot, Shovel Knight and Bomberman)

-Ryu Vs Little Mac, Cloud Vs Link, Bayonetta Vs Samus Aran Zero in the same game *.*

The Best Smash Bros ever

Once most of the melee stragglers stop going, yes. But there are many competitive melee players who refuse to acknowledge Smash 4 or outright trashing it because it's not exactly like melee. But now that there are some really good newcomers to the competitive scene, melee's lasting power might not be as strong.

Melee is VII because it's the one more people experienced first to get them into the series. vi is the better game, and that's Smash 4.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Melee is still the best. Wii U is def 2nd but I have problems with it. Ledge grabbing seems to fail randomly, when I get hit I seems to have a harder time doing a rolling dodge landing. Melee is perfect. Plus I miss young Link personally I think replacing him with toon link is stupid keep toon link if you must but I want young Link back. Links wind boomerang is also bad in my opinion but Link has been my character since 64 so those are just personal gripes.

This one will possibly be remembered as the best roster if the next one doesnt top it

While it's unfortunate that the single-player offerings are not as good as previous installments, I cannot deny that Smash 4 is an incredible game that achieved feats that we never thought would be possible. To have Cloud, Mega Man, Ryu, Pac-Man, Sonic, Mario, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, Link, Bayonetta, and Samus all in the same game is something to behold. It'll be tough to top a roster of this caliber.

Gameplay-wise, it feels better, to me, than Brawl, which was pretty darn good itself. I felt like I could control my characters better than Melee if I am playing competitively and its faster than Brawl.

The online offerings is much better (though tournament mode could've been a better setup), the Master/Crazy Orders are pretty challenging, Classic and All-Star Mode are pretty good, and 8-player Smash is insane. Some may dismiss some of these modes, but for Smash to reach this far to add in content that could not be possible with Melee or Brawl shows growth. I mean, finally, a 5th, 6th, 7th, and/or 8th player can be part of the fun instead of waiting for their turn to play Smash.

For those who criticize the soundtrack, I have to respectfully disagree. Hearing Smiles and Tears, a remix of the opening of Metroid, Escape, the Mario remix tracks, the Mega Man remix tracks, Gerudo Valley remix, etc., is pleasing to my ears, along with a solid opening/menu theme for Smash 4.

I'll probably rank it higher than Melee, which is my number two favorite game of the franchise. Brawl is a close third. Smash 64 is great as well, but falls short due to the amount of content the successors have. As being the FFVII of Smash Bros.? I don't know, because I haven't played FFVII yet so I cannot say if Smash 4 is the FFVII of Smash Bros.
