Uncharted 4, Sony's biggest and best selling game, only sold 8 million AND it was bundled. What chance does a new IP have against the legend that IS Zelda? Zero chance.

Not sure why you're saying "Only sold 8 million" when that's higher then any entry in the Zelda series. Also it's 8.7 million as of December 21st.

Now also "Zero Chance" is a very strong term, considering only 4 Zelda games have sold over 5 million. Horizon has a good chance at breaking the 5 million mark in my opinion and "only 8 million" is even a possibility with legs.

I said only because a bundled game that sells 8 million on an install base of around 54 million is a pretty lousy attach rate. By comparison, MK8 sold 7 million on a 13 million userbase. That's like 6 people out of 10 that bought the game!

So if Uncharted 4, a huge IP, Sony's biggest and most well known franchise can only pull off that kind of attach rate, Horizon has yes, zero chance. Do you know what (according to VGchartz) the second highest selling, non port PS4 title is behind Uncharted 4? Second Son... with only 2 million copies sold. Yeah, again... Horizon is not beating Zelda.

I think you're kind of ignoring that Uncharted 4 is only like 9 months old.... The MK8 comparison makes no sense not only because of it's age but equally because of the WiiU's low Installbase.

A console with a lower installbase will in general have a higher attach rate for games, because the people that own the console are the "hardcore" crowd that spend more and play more.

Why you shifted the discussion from sales to attach rate is beyond me though.

Horizon will be a big seller, maybe it won't quite reach 5 million, maybe it'll go beyond that. Time will tell, but "Zero Chance" is silly considering past Zelda sales aren't that "legendary".

That's probably because the good majority of Wii U sales were to hardcore Nintendo fans, while the big casual crowds have gone for PS4/XB1 for their yearly battlefields, fifa, CoD, etc. Assuming that is the case, it makes sense for a game like Mario Kart to have such a high attachment rate, although that attachment rate is impressive nevertheless.

i dont see casuals buying horizon much as zelda as for the meta lol but who knows maybe nintendo fukcs up with botw : ) as for graphics thats debatable

its not. only a blind person (or one that is completely biased) would think zelda looks better

thats so evil to say.

wind waker has aged pretty well in terms of graphics while other at the time better looking games did not.

I think better art design is debatable but graphically, Horizon is much more impressive.

You're making my point for me lol. Nintendo has more hard core fans. Sony has more casual users. Horizon is not a casual game. It's a game that is only going to appeal to the Bloodborne, Second Son etc. crowd. Only one first party game on PS4 (outside of PS3 ports) has managed to sell more than 2 million copies. Think about that for a second. Only... one. You really think Horizon is capable of doubling that total? Why do you think that? There's really nothing that backs that up imo. The only way it happens is if you bundle the shit out of it for Christmas and stick it into a $199.99 Slim package. Other than that, there's just no way.

I have to disagree bigly here.... Sony has the most gaming fans this gen so far.... And has always had the biggest gaming community since the 90s....

Just because third party games sell millions doesn't mean Sony's first party won't.... Biggest games have mostly been third party so far....

Also expect horizon to outsell infamous in two weeks ;) that game is going to sell, this gen responds to highly reviewed games..... And low reviewed games..... Notice the order flopped, while Bloodborne was a success...

Sales this year yes, though Zelda might have the benefit of Nintendo's tendency towards perennial sales (I am not sure how PS exclusives fair that way).

But critical viewpoint....hard to say.

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

Horizon Zero Dawn has just launched to critical acclaim, despite what you say it IS a title with mainstream appeal. It's lauching on a console with a high installbase and for the forseeable future it will be the poster-child for the PlayStation 4 Pro and no doubt will recieve bundles. It will easily sell 4 million+

We can make a bet if you'd like.
