It's pretty much all Nintendo's fault for this. IMO, outside of Smash Bros, no game uses Amiibo in any kind of compelling way. I have like 20 Amiibo and I don't even know why lol. I literally never use them in games.

The problem is that people is in denial that Amiibo figurines are DLC.

Well, Nintendo could use some form of digital amiibo. With that digimiibo costing just 2-4€ and being tied to your MyNintendo account.  They could implement it somehow.

That's a waste. If you're gonna do that. Just sell the DLC unlocks.

You just buy the DLC pack of whatever one has. And it installs on said games. You're adding in the SSB trophie table, as an extra step, for no reason.
