Forums - Nintendo - Bold Prediction: The Wii U Gamepad isn't going anywhere.

That all could be easily done when they are releasing stand alone controllers. Think of it like the XBone. They have a standard controller they sell on the side, then the premium that can switch out analog sticks.

That would be great then! They should do it ^^

I love the gamepad and would love to see it continue to be included, but it's not worth it if the price barrier remains so high that they cannot compete or must instead rely on older technology to accommodate it. I'm rather hoping it has become cheaper to include a durable tablet, but I don't know if that's the case.

I do believe, however, that they will find some way to include a touchscreen somewhere... Perhaps the handheld can be used as a controller for the console? I'm just excited to see what they've come up with.

If the NX is backwards compatible then sure

It would be kinda nice if they gave the gamepad another shot with the NX. I still feel it has a lot of untapped potential. But it may not be wise either to hold onto the gamepad.

Honestly, the inclusion of the gamepad would mean more market confusion. They might as well call it the Wii U2.

I disagree if the name of the console is different. It's like how the PS4 has a very similar controller as the PS3. They could also change the look of the controller, but it still basically be a gamepad that comes with the system. You can just add gamepads for multiplayer and backwards compatibility.

So why release the Wii U gamepad as a standalone controller when the NX one will be different? It serves no purpose.

The NX will probably be able to use the Gamepad, Wii Mote, GameCube controller + adapter, and Pro Controller in addition to it's own controller anyways.

Actually this could mean the NX will be a regular controller with no screen because im sure if the NX controller had a screen nintendo could have made emulation possible without the need of the Wii U gamepad.

NX will support GamePad, but it won't be bundled with one. Not the old one nor a new iteration. So keep your Wii U, don't sell it!

Wii U gamepad is one of reasons why Wii U failed, I don't think they will give another shot for completely new platform.

Yeah, that would be the reason why they wouldn't use it again.

And yet, they are selling it as a stand alone device..... They are keeping it.

Same like they selling Wii Remote and Nunchuk for Wii U, for BC or like different controller.

Wii motes don't cost ~ $100.

No but cost $50 and Nunchuck cost $20.

Why is every damn prediction labeled as "Bold" by thread starter?

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

It would be kinda cool if they supported the gamepad on next gen. Hopefully this happens as an extra. But don't expect it to be the main joystick tho.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won
