Forums - Gaming - Will PS3 "HOME" be a boost for PS3 sales?

I don't think it will bump sales and I don't think it's meant to, it's to make the online PS3 experience surpass the Xbox Live one, so for people who have PS3s their experience will have a lot added to it but it won't sell systems. It's basically responding the the criticisms of lack of a common online play system that 360 has. Games sell systems, I don't think anyone bought a 360 to read the menus on Xbox Live and no one will buy a PS3 to get on Home, but if you got one then you will enjoy it probably.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner!

Features are not system sellers. Without games, XBL and Home are nearly useless. They're made to add depth to the gaming experience and to compliment the games made by the developers.

Home isn't a game... it's a service. I really like the idea, and I think it has tons of potential, but it's not going to sell $500 systems. So how big of an impact? None, no one is going to go out and buy PS3 just for home, that's just dumb. Bundled with good games, it can be a great service just like Xbox live (or even better).

we have another winner!

The only thing that will boost sales is a price drop and the release of some major exclusive games for the system. Since most of it's exclusive heavy hitters seem to be coming out in 2008 it'll be hard for Sony to do it in 2007.

"socializing is huge among the female populace, gamer or not." they have my space for that...there isnt gonna be alot of ppl who would buy a "video game" machine to interact with ppl.. atleast peeps i know, and boy do i know alot of ppl...

I am WEEzY. You can suck my Nintendo loving BALLS!

If you can get a female gamer to put down a Wiimote long enough to ask them if Home would be enough to get them to buy a $600 console, I'd be surprised.

superchunk I havnt said that the 360 is clear of problem, no it's not. You said your friend had his broken 3 times and he bought the console from the launch period ? Does this seems a little strange ? No, we all know that the launch of the 360 was disatrous because of all the Red Ring. He change his console 3 times with Microsoft, but you should know that microsoft repair or replace by refurb consoles and their serial number have all manufactured date of november 2005, the big faulty period. As of now many of the remplacement are made by Microsoft and alot less by shoppers, so for what I know and what i have seen they are right now in the norm of faulty product on the market, if many problems happen to a same person, don't blame the product, but the company who don't take the time to seriously repair their defect and return them right after.

gamer9851 My point still stands. MS made a crappy product. Are the latest builds as crappy, no, but originally quality was not their concern. As is the usual case with MS. Exactly why I was able to talk same friend out of getting original version of Vista. I forced him to wait for at least the 1st service pack. sorry for going off topic.

Yes the 360 was a crappy product, but now he is in the norm defect wise, so has I say in my last paragraph it only depend on the effort of Microsoft to take time repairing defective units, if they don't I can bet we will still heard about faulty units for a will. For Vista you should tell your friend to wait longer than the first service pack, if it's like XP give them more than a year before changing for Vista.
