Yes the 360 was a crappy product, but now he is in the norm defect wise, so has I say in my last paragraph it only depend on the effort of Microsoft to take time repairing defective units, if they don't I can bet we will still heard about faulty units for a will. For Vista you should tell your friend to wait longer than the first service pack, if it's like XP give them more than a year before changing for Vista.
