Forums - Sales - Fallout 4 Ps4 outsells Xbone version, in the USA.... the end of Xbone?

Releasing all these games in such quick succession seems like a bad move to me. Lord know Halo 5 has an effect on Fallout sales. And both games have had an effect on Tomb Raider sales. Heck, the way Halo 5 has sold I guess TR and Fallout effect it as well.

PC GAMING: BEST GAMES. WORST CONTROLS

Might want to wait for NPD before being quite so definitive about that. Though VGC will have counted the official bundles as part of the game's sales and NPD won't, so there is a decent chance NPD will put PS4 sales ahead as well.

More surprising is that on VGC numbers the PS4 is slightly ahead in terms of proportion of game sales relative to install base. In general it can be said that RPGs do better on PS than Xb. But that rule of thumb is typically flipped on its head when it comes to Bethesda RPGs. Skyrim did 2:1 on 360 vs PS3 in the USA whereas the install base ratio was only 1.6:1, so massive advantage to 360 there. New Vegas did >1.75:1 on 360 vs PS3, again a significantly higher proportion in favour of 360 on install base.

Currently PS4:Xb one is 1.1:1, the FO4 sales ratio is 1.13:1 in favour of PS4. It's a very marginal difference, but considering the heavy favouring of 360 last gen this is quite a demographic shift. This isn;t the end of Xb one as such, but it might be the end of Xbox as a broad based console and it appears to be somewhat returning to it's core multiplayer shooter roots.

I will be looking at Mass Effect 4 sales with keen interest in this regard.

Yeah, I don't trust these numbers, either VGC's ballsed up this week or they have ballsed up last week. As you would have thought with all the bundling and and advertising COD would sell more on PS4 and PS4 would sell more that week, but it didn't, yet this week when XBOX had the advertising rights and bundles, Fallout sells more on PS4 and sells more PS4's. So either COD completely dominated on PS4 last week and we have it wrong, or Fallout has dominated this week on Xbox. Somehow I think it's the former.

I'm amazed at how, despite it saying USA in the title, and another two times more in the OP, a few users here still manage to bring forth the worldwide sales difference as a way to say that the PS4 version should've been a lot more ahead of the XBO version....

Not the end, but surely they have lost their touch on the US now as well.

...Let the Sony Domination continue with the PS4...

In other news: According to VGC, COD on X1 outsold its counterpart on PS4. So according to the logic of the OP, PS4 is doomed :).

Altough I don't agree with the title and they probably should lock thread, his logic is pretty clear. Fallout used to sell better on XB1 but now on PS4.

How does that apply to COD?

Well, it sure doesn't mean its the end of the console :P.

Really? You are surprised? The Witcher 3 sold 3 times as much on PS4 as on XBO worldwide, 50% more in North America, despite The Witcher 1 and 2 being exclusive to the Xbox and the Xbox 360, respectively. And Fallout 4 on PS4 edging out the XBO version in the US surprises you? I'm not surprised at all, and it hardly means the end for the XBO. In fact I suspected the gap to be bigger, despite it having Xbox marketing. Hopefully NPD we'll get some pretty precise numbers from NPD, to check if VGC's numbers are up to snuff.

The first Witcher never was on the Xbox do some basic research before posting false info wikipedia is pretty easy to use.

I don't understand How you can say Xbox is returning to its multilayer shooter roots when WRPGs have been a staple of the brand since the OG Xbox. Also, with FO4s FW having just outsold Halo of all things.

No I think what these numbers show us is just the sheer number of Xbox users who jumped ship in the US. Naturally with that being the case, Xbox associated franchises will begin to sell better on PS4.

Gonna go ahead and lock this.

Its way over the top. I mean, the reason why so many games are selling more copies on PS4, even in America, is because of the userbase. Fallout sold more on Xbox 360 in the USA because the 360 literally steam-rolled the PS3. In 2015, the Xbox brand doesn't hold that sway in the industry, even in America.

This is far, far from the end of the Xbox One.

Locking.
