Will SFV help PS4 sell more than Tomb Raider is helping Xbox One?

Do you really have to ask this Question? I say the announcent for SFV being console exclusive moved already more consoles than the entire deal with tomb raider for microsoft.

and well he is right, you have to buy a ps4 this generation but that's just me.

That's awesome!!

Almost as good as the classic, "Want a PS3? Get a job" 😆

http://www.engadget.com/2005/07/06/sony-wants-you-to-earn-that-playstation-3/

Even with the article linked, you misquote Kuturagi and instead go with the gaming journalism spin on what he said.

"for consumers to think to themselves 'I will work more hours to buy one'. We want people to feel that they want it, irrespective of anything else.".

That doesn't mean "get a job. Get two jobs, ya lazy bum". It means that the goal of the PS3 was to become so desirable that people will work more hours just to get it (working "more hours" doesn't necessarily mean "get two jobs" btw. There is such a thing as overtime). A trip to Europe would cost me $3,000 with the flight, hotels, and spending money. But do travel agencies tell me to "get a job. get two jobs" if I want to afford to go? No. They just make trip packages that are so attractive that you will work as much as you need to to be able to purchase them. That is what Kuturagi meant.

How did "feel that they want it, irrespective of anything else" get spun into "get a job, get two jobs" and people, in turn, have ran with it for almost a decade......when the exact quote is right there?

Not to mention, if he did say "get a job", well, how else is somebody supposed to buy a game console, otherwise? Somebody has to work to earn the money to get it. So even the misquote doesn't have grounds for mocking.

dude, learn to laugh a little...

Almost ten years of a misquote is more annoying than funny

I'm laughing cuz I found it funny he said to save money and buy  PS4 if you want to play SF 5. I'm not flaming dude.

Nothing deeper than that.

Sony must have forced Ono to say that or his funding will be cut. xD

It was probably Japanese gangsters.

xD xD xD

Am I right is saying it was announced as an exclusive in June this year? That would give an individual around 9 months to save up.

$300/9= $33.3

In case the game isn't bunderu'd:

$360/9= $40

Either way I think it's a reasonable ask. Save up you tight fisted bums and come over to the darkside!

I would say 3D platformers are very niche today, while 2D platformers definitely aren't. Most JRPGs are niche outside of Japan, except for outliers like Final Fantasy, and... Final fantasy. Lol

3D platformers could be said niche at the moment, however I'd say the demand is still there just not the games. Mario is always success but there is a lot of hype for Mirror's Edge and of course for a new Crash Bandicoot. There are so many jrpg's coming I gotta wonder why companies would target this so called niche-audience with such big investments. How can games like Pokemon, FF, DQ, KH, Persona, Dark Souls belong in niche-genre, those are all big sellers and behind those the 2nd tier looks strong as fuck.

For fighting games there are Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter and Tekken, all of those can sell in the millions.

I'd say mario is the excepttion, not the rule, unfortunately. Even then, 3D mario doesn't even come close to 2D Mario sales. Mirrors Edge is a new type of platformer, but even then fans had to beg for a sequel. As for Crash, we'll just have to wait to see if the hype exists outside of "niche" gaming forums like this one. ;)

To be honest I forgot about Pokemon and KH. Souls is such a western styled series that I dont even think of it as a JRPG -- even most of îts sales are from the West. DQ may be huge in Japan, but everywhere else it's very niche. Same goes for Persona. The reason you see so many JRPGs coming out is that theres a dedicated, albeit small, market for them. The size of said market is exactly why the majority of Japanese RPGs these days are made for cheap. They oftentimes don't even come close to 1mil sales, yet are able to turn a profit because they budget accordingly.

Fighting games definitely aren't niche, though. Sure, there are niche fighters, but the genre as a whole, and the franchises you mentioned, are far too big to be called niche, imo.

If you are a fan of fighting games and JRPGs, you should buy a PS4.

I'm a fan of both bt I won't be buying a PS4 and no I won't be missing out before you say otherwise.

I was just making a statement on which genres the PS4 has been getting exclusives with lately.

Nice guy Sony helped with making SF5 for PS4/PC. Even if you buy it for PC, you're still supporting Nice guy Sony.

It's true man about the major fighters (SFIV, UMVC3, SF3rd Strike, etc) all being played on the 360 because of that 1 frame advantage. Trust me I know Sony is where the fighters go, but last gen was about the 360 because of that reason. It's not because the FGC is a bunch of fanboys. To play a fighting game professionally, it has to have perfect frames, or damn near perfect. It has to be precise. That's the only reason why the 360 was chosen over the PS3. It wasn't nothing personal against Sony.

Which would favour ps4...what does 360 have to do with anything? Stop living in 2012. Are you saying x1 would run it better then ps4? It's not rocket science, ps4 would be the best version, and most pro players would be switching regardless.

No one is living in 2012. You're stuck with PS blinders on.  We're just trying to educate, yet you keep being combative and insulting folks at the same team. Also we're talking about SFIV being on 360 and PS3. What are YOU talking about? I'm not saying X1 would run anything better than PS4. I never even mentioned the PS4 or X1.  Oh on a side note, the 360 version is superior to the PS4 version....and this is coming from a guy that has the PS3, PS4, 3DS, and the 360 version.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
