well, my Gen 8 started early in 2011 since I was one of early 3DS buyers. because of that I was given access to the ambassador program and got 20 free downloadable games. Already off to a good start. Later in 2012 I bought a Wii U despite hearing about all the "infamous update" news that would brick the console. I was actually able to work around it and be able to play games while it updated so that was another plus. Unfortunately later next year, I had a hardware problem with the gamepad and sent it in for repairs. But hey, it came back within 2 weeks and worked fine, and it was completely free of charge. I did have to pay to get my 3DS repaired later down the line so that was a down side... I skipped buying a PS4 or XBone after all the horror stories about them but I am planning on getting an XBone soon. Overall, not bad. I've been having the same amount of enjoyment as Gen 7 so all is good.
its been great!
Killzone Shadow Fall: meh single player. but multiplayer is pretty great. SO much fun.
Dont Starve: fucking amazing. its a great game, i loved it
resogun: fun game. played it for a few hours. not my style, but i still enjoyed my time with it.
Infamous Second Son: loved it. its amazing. wish it was longer. but the first light DLC made up for that, and with the arena mode it was great. ISS was one of my fav games in years.
Farcry 4: amazing game, so much fun. spent 50+ hours playing it. so much great memories with this.
Destiny: good game. a bit bare on the content, but its really really fun to play. spent 70+ hours in it between multiplayer (which was great), strikes and story mode.
Dying Light: fun game. has enough content, and entertaining. not the best game out there, but still fun.
The Order: fun game, pretty short, but i got it as a gift, i enjoyed my time with it. could have been a lot better, but still entertaining.
Driveclub PS+ edition: its a fun game. not big on racers but i still enjoyed the few races i played.
The Witcher 3: Game of the generation material. loved it to fucking pieces. bought the season pass, first season pass i ever buy. fantastic epic game
Rocket League: fucking awesome. i still play this with my brothers and i dont see us stoping any time soon. we three put about 55 hours of play time at least, and we are still playing it. its a blast to play online and offline. and with the new free updates coming in Nov and Dec it will be more fun than ever. holy fuck is this game amazing.
Bloodborne: fucking loving it. still playing it but its insanely fun, such a great game.
overall its a pretty good gen so far. Starwars battlefront is releasing soon, and i enjoyed the beta a lot. and next year is going to be huge as well. so yeah, its a pretty good gen.

Pretty good overall.
3DS - lots of great games for the first few years. 3D Land, MK7, FE:A, Star Fox 64 3D, Theatrythm, Project X Zone, VLR etc. Have lost interest over the last year, despite there still being new releases that I like the look of. I think a combination of being annoyed at the N3DS and it's software exclusives and a general waning of interest in handheld gaming has meant that it has not been turned on in a while.
Vita - Had a great year with the console in 2014, catching up on releases. Uncharted GA, Wipeout 2048, LBP Vita, Tearaway Unfolded, Persona 5, Ys Memories of Celceta, Danganronpa 1 & 2 and Gravity Rush were all great. Haven't played it at all this year though, really nothing of great interest for me on the system right now.
Wii U - Lots of droughts, poor online and lack of features have been an annoying part of the Wii U. But it has had some great games. 3D World, MK8, Splatoon, Zombi U, Rayman Legends, Bayonetta 1&2, W101, Mario Maker and a few others have been fantastic games. There isn't too much more to look forward to this gen, Xenoblade, Star Fox and SMT x FE being the big ones. A decent console, but has certainly put me off buying a Nintendo home console early in the gen. Looking forward to seeing what NX is though.
PS4 - Pretty great so far. Constant stream of games that I want to buy, probably at least 15 games behind already. Have enjoyed exclusives like TLoUR, inFamous and Driveclub, and looking forward to getting Bloodborne, Until Dawn, Dragon Quest Heroes and NDC. Third party games like DA:I, Far Cry 4, Wolfenstein, Alien Isolation and Dark Souls 2 have been good to fantastic. Also indies are getting better and better. Games like Rocket League and Vanishing of Ethan Carter are a good addition to the library. Japanese support looks to be better than last gen as well. Persona and mainline Dragon Quest back on home console after all these years is very welcome.
So many games coming up as well. Star Wars, Fallout, Just Cause 3, Mirrors Edge 2, Deus Ex, Dark Souls 3, Uncharted 4, Ratchet & Clank, Gravity Rush 2, Last Guardian, Mass Effect, Horizon, GT Sport, Detroit, FFXV, Kingdom Hearts 3, Dragon Quest XI, Doom, Dishonoured 2, Mafia 3, Persona 5, Nier 2, Nioh, Shenmue 3, FFVII R. Ton to look forward to.
Looking to get a deal on X1 this month or next to complete the set, as I like the look of the X1 lineup next year, and there is quite a bit on the system I want to play already.
Does Wii U count?
If so... its had a few gems, less than Id have liked though.
"How has Gen 8 been for you so far?"
Abit underwhelming honestly.
Might just be I own the wrong console though....

I don't think the 3DS has released any remakes. There are some remakes released on the 3DS though. I don't think they are what they are because of the 3DS doing remakes better however.

Um.... yes, yes it does.
"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
I'm enjoying it a lot. I only have a Wii U and 3DS to judge but I've got a good 15-20 titles on each, plus a lot of eshop and indie games as well.
I'm sure I'd enjoy it just as much with any of the other 2 systems.

Brilliant for the most part.
Multiplatform games have been a bit shit though. MGS5, Dying Light, Arkham Knight, Witcher 3, COD, Battlefield Hardline AC Unity were all meh for me.

What examples do you have here? The remakes I know of are worse than their originals versions.
