Forums - Nintendo - Bloomberg: Nintendo Mobile Game Delay Triggers $4.5 Billion Drop in Value

This is gonna be good. Nintendo knows what they're doing. I was furious at them too. Releasing some dumb Mii game. The nerve! But you need to understand that they're trying to reach a different crowd...the casuals. You don't anticipate the casuals, they just show up. They'll come running soon enough. And Nintendo will roll in the dough. Will hardcore fans like it? Heckey naw. But the casuals will eat it up.

The whole mobile crowd is casual. No hardcore gamer will play on a phone.

what Nintendo is doing now however, may not appeal to either given that it does not seem like a game as much as it does a companion/social app.

What Nintendo found was that Tomodachi Life was a surprise hit with Japanese gamers. There's something there that struck. I think that's what they're trying to recreate and no it isn't really hitting towards casual gamers or hard core but Nintendo knows that. They're aiming for a market that we really don't know much about. But for Kimishima to be so optimistic, he must know something that we don't.

Is this the overreaction we've been waiting for?

Confidence can be bluffed. Especially, when it's necessary. In and of its self its just an indicator of confidence itself and nothing more, specially not capability. Actual performance is a better metric in my opinion, the mobile game delay suggests a lack of capability that betrays that confidence.

Sign up to a trading platform, you'll need some cash behind you though if you want to make serious money.

Like which platform? I know making big money requires big money, but right now I'm just thinking about buying a couple shares and keeping them long term, possibly getting a couple of those Nintendo dividends they are famous for But I can't even find any information if all shareholders get paid or only those who own a certain number of shares This whole stock thing isn't easy, especially if you want to buy Japanese stock from Europe

Any really, which ever you find more suited to your ease of use, for us in Europe it's tricky getting a hold of their stock as you said. Now would be a good time to buy and hold until March.

Yeah, it can be. But look at this dudes face:

Don't think this guy even knows how to bluff. XD

Im sure if it was such a big issue for Nintendo they would have made sure there was no delay.

I did chuckle reading the title of this because it sums up investors completely. Did they expect that Mii game to bring in 4.5 billion plus in revenue within a few month period? It's a small game with a limited audience. It's no Mario. I could understand if the shares dropped by $100m but this is ridiculous.

The interesting thing is that this probably could have been mostly avoided if Nintendo had been more transparent with investors in the months leading to this announcement. Everyone (investors included) expected Mario. In addition, the delay didn't help matters much. When investors are fickle and dump that much stock it is a very bad sign that they don't believe in management anymore. We all love Nintendo, but they need to open up more.

Insiders told us it wasn't going to be Mario weeks ahead of the meeting.

Investors are dumb, that's why our econmy is in the dumpster.
