The whole mobile crowd is casual. No hardcore gamer will play on a phone.

what Nintendo is doing now however, may not appeal to either given that it does not seem like a game as much as it does a companion/social app.

What Nintendo found was that Tomodachi Life was a surprise hit with Japanese gamers. There's something there that struck. I think that's what they're trying to recreate and no it isn't really hitting towards casual gamers or hard core but Nintendo knows that. They're aiming for a market that we really don't know much about. But for Kimishima to be so optimistic, he must know something that we don't.

Confidence can be bluffed. Especially, when it's necessary. In and of its self its just an indicator of confidence itself and nothing more, specially not capability. Actual performance is a better metric in my opinion, the mobile game delay suggests a lack of capability that betrays that confidence.
