What's with the persecution complex of certain pc gamers though?

That's not exclusive to PC gamers.

True, there are 'everyone is against my company of choice' comments for all platforms.

Here's an old thread, peaceful co-existence is possible
http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=178408
It died, since there was nothing to bicker about (well except about whether handhelds could be included...)

Anyway in a thread titled PC vs Console, what else can you expect.

Both is best. My kids play Minecraft on 3 systems actually. PC for mods, PS4 for 4 player splitscreen, iPad cause they just can't get enough of it :/ PS4 has our main world though. On PC no world survives very long with constant changing of mods.

Emulation as in a program to put the bios and roms of a console into might be legal, as in the actual program that would handle those files.

Ripping the BIOS from a console tho especially something like a SNES is very hard to do and downloading ripped BIOS from the internet is not 100% legal, that console OS software belongs to Nintendo.

As for owning the complete libraries of Roms from those systems.... even if you did have the actual phsical versions of all the games, I still think you aren't legally allowed to back them up onto a PC and play them, emulation of old games isn't legal simple as that, it isn't even a grey area.

Where did I say anything about ripping a BIOS? That's a grey area. You are getting into semantics. ;)
Also a BIOS isn't an OS.
The legalities of Obtaining a BIOS will vary depending on where you live in the world and various legal precedents, for me it is perfectly legal.
Converesly, many emulators don't need a BIOS, they emulate the BIOS.

Fact of the matter is... I can legally play a PS2 game on my PC without consequence. Pop the disk in, fire up the emulator.

Being a PC gamer doesn't prevent you from owning a console. I own several in-fact. My Xbox 360 game collection is only about 180 games large.

In the end i guess you will be cheaper on consoles anyway. It always depends on the person though, but you get 60 free games with ps+ per year. Many pc gamer are buyin dozens of cheap pc games on steam sales for even more money then ps+ costs.

There are hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of free PC games, some are the best games of all time, some even have more gamers playing it than there are PS4 consoles sold currently.

PS+ and your 60 free games aren't really free. You are paying for that.
If you were to spend the amount of cash you would on PS+ subscription for something like... Humble Bundle, you could get hundreds and hundreds of more games a year for the same cost.

Consoles you pay more for games and accessories and for online.
PC you pay more for hardware, but ends up cheaper over time thanks to cheaper games and accessories and free online.

The consoles have low-end hardware anyway, it's not diffuclt to beat. Will be interesting to see if they end up relegated extremely to low-end once AMD releases ZEN and their GPU's transition to 14nm.

Regardless, you have certainly shown your Pro-Console stance on this topic. So there is that. :P Need someone who has zero leanings or care factor in either direction to truly make a fair comparison as a large portion of your points I disagree on.

What PS2 emulation are you using and when it comes to the BIOS file which you are using to interact with the Game itself, what file are you pointing the emulator towards?

Also a BIOS system, while very simple compared to an Operating system like Windows is still by its actions an Operating system, the simplicity of the system doesn't dictate what it is.

Unfortunately I've yet to been in a LAN party ;o

I wonder how it will go lol

Though almost all my gaming friends are from different states or in different countries :/

You've never been to one before?.

Pretty awesome hangouts I'd have to say, back when I was in my early to mid 20's me and my mates would all get together every weekend and have LAN parties where we'd all be hooked up together and play all sorts of co-op/multiplayer games all day long, of course we all work full time jobs now and our tastes have changes a bit so we don't really hang out as much as we used to. Still LAN parties are definitely a fun event to be a part of, especially if you're the one with a USB/storage drive full of games to hand to other friends/folks to save them having to download them instead.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Yeah never got to experience that since I dont know that many people that play games at where I live (and I doubt there's anyone here close to where I live in Curryland that does at all).

Then again it could also be because I didnt get into PC gaming until 2012 XD.

lol don't sweat about it, you'll find one in time =P, there will always be LAN events either from friends or public. My highschool hosted a few in the last two years before I graduated as an example.

Maybe you'll find some like minded people at work, you never know.
I lucked out when I started working for a small software company. It was sort of tradition to play fps in lan at the end of the day. First duke nukem 3D, then Quake, Half-life, and Unreal tournament. One of us even made a custom map for half-life of the office building. Good way to blow off steam at the end of the work day, shoot up the office :) 7 of us also decided to get together in the office on a weekend to play Age of Empires 2. Unfortunately the game got so slow with close to a thousand units marching over the map that we never finished the match.

Too bad that all went away when the company grew up. It spoiled online multiplayer for me though. That never reaches the heights of sitting in the same room.

Yeah, I don't understand people feeling personally attacked when someone criticizes their console of choice.  Seems rather childish to me.   As is the need to downplay everything that isn't your system of choice.

As much as that sucks, you can still have a "lan" party while connecting to official servers, assuming your connection is strong.

There are tons of immortal LAN PC games that will never get old. UT, WC3, CS 1.6 among others.

If you LAN consoles you're basically stuck playing only Halo all night.
