It's easier to say that when for a while more people owned a 360 over a 3.

Rebuys :o

Not according to some Xbox supporters.

;o Who do you think rebuys?

Says gamers and games come first.

Pays to delay Tomb Raider to appear in other consoles.

At least, he knows how to lie. That, I like.

losing, he means he hates losing the console war.

Did you really not understand what he is saying or are you doing this exact thing Spencer is talking about on purpose? Hint: He isn't talking about sales contest between Sony and Microsoft. Ps players really love to spin his words, maybe they should think about it from an another ankle for a while.

No. I'm reading right.

He is just saying things based in the spin needed to the interview... he are doing a lot of odd statements that contradicts himself from few months ago.
There is no other angle to think about.
He started to lie too.

But yeap for some Spencer is the God.

Hehe yep your last sentence tells me everything I need to know about your thoughts. I've shared my thoughts about those claimed contradictions before so peace and love to everybody, I'm out!

I bet if his strategy was doing better at turning XB1's fortunes around, he'd have a completely different opinion.

I'm kind of tired of the console wars, too. I actually wish we could get to where the movie and music industry is--one platform for everything and upgrades it every five years. Like Phil said, make it about the games again.

Soooo PC gaming then. Interesting statement that he wants people to be proud of the "piece of plastic" they own, which is hopefully Xbox. OK well when you want people to be that emotionally connected to your machine the console war is exactly what you get. So he's being a little disingenuous there, and elsewhere. But is it any different to any other consumer turf wars that happen? Cars, motorcycles, phones, computer operating systems (Apple, vs Windows, vs Linux), sports teams (I mean look at football hooliganism in Europe, how bad is that? At least you don't see all in brawls between fanboys at E3). It's basically commercial manipulation of the tendancy towards tribalism, which pervades all cultures, there's us and then there's them and us is superior, and them hate us for being better. Phil might personally dislike the console wars, but he's not translating that into different business practices. If he really hated the console wars he'd get MS out of that business. After all, Xbox isn't making MS money and Xbox is not as trategically relevant to MS's core business as when they first decided to get into consoles. So why be in the console business when there's no logical reason to be there? Or do they still need to be there to shore up the position of DirectX? But if course if it's a defensive strategy to maintain the market position of DirectX then they're not in consoles for the gamers, are they? But we're fooling ourselves if we think any of these companies are in it for the gamers. They're in it for our money. They have no real interest in us as gamers. And how do they make money? By selling their stuff to us. And how do they sell their stuff to us? Positive marketing/PR AND negative marketing/PR. Is MS engaged in negative marketing/PR? Yes of course it is. What's the effect of negative marketing? Console wars.

I personally was never interested in the whole premise of these "Console Wars" myself. Buying your preferred games to go with your interests in specific genres is something that should be a factor; not pledging allegiance towards one brand.

What Phil stated is easily something that known amongst gamers, but others tend to ignore due to what they may feel as "betrayal" to their brand. In the end, the games will have a more greater impact than the consoles. Games are what make us as gamers gravitate towards a specific platform; doubly so if said title is exclusive. Unfortunately though, there will always be people who believe that one console is vastly superior than the others despite the fact they might have not given its competition a fair chance.

the console war is pretty stupid

Thats cause xbox is losing.

Yep. If he were winning, he wouldn't hate it. Hate it or like it, everything seems to be a war, when more than one of it exists. iOS VS. Android, Pepsi Vs Coke, so on and so forth.
