Will you buy Xenoblade X?

Fucking Yesss! 157 83.96%

Im not so sure anymore 18 9.63%

Nope. 12 6.42%

Total:187

One thing I noticed in some game-play footage that really bugged me was how when you get a question or whatever instead of the options popping up without immersion breaking ala Persona 4/Mass Effect/etc. the music stops abruptly, the screen darkens, and a very generic pop up box appears...

I have full confidence in this game being glorious. No reviewer will stop me from experiencing it on my own.

This thread made me wonder, is Witcher 3 going to be the best open world game of 2015?

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

That or MGS5 are the clear cut favorites plus potential game of the year winners.

I have no doubt its going to be another masterpiece like XC. Im not really into the music right now but Im sure it can change when I finally play the game (but I really really hope that its not full of that awful voice tracks).

My main concern with the game is if it will have as many locations and different areas as XC had or if its just a vast world made of 5 huge locations.

From what I have seen (almost every video on youtube) primordia I think it is, is like bionis leg but 5 or 6 times bigger, the other one that is like makna forest is the same, a forest but just 5 times bigger and I dont know if Im going to like that.

Are there going to be only 5 locations? I wont care if they are so huge if its only 5 different environments. If you look at XC it was perfect, it had bionis leg, agniratha, tephra cave, makna forest, eryth sea, satorl, valak mountain, colony 9 and 6, frontier village...

Will XCX be just as good or even better in this?

Famitsu gave it 34/40.
Nintendoworldreport gave it 9/10

It looks like it'll be roughly on par with the first game, although I doubt the story will be as good. But the extra open-world stuff will hopefully make up for that.

These guys know what they're doing and they take their time with games. I wouldn't worry.

Story may take a hit, but the combat looks increadibly more in depth, and you can get and customize mechs.

I have seen four full reviews (from japanese speakers/sites) and several port previews from people for whom Japanese is not a first language (or don't speak it at all). And 3 out of the 4 reviews were positive and one was kinda negative (two of those were users here, the positive one being Tachikoma). Of the port previews, the only negative one I have seen so far was Kotaku. However, Kotaku didn't like the first game either and their complaints for XCX are dang near identical so I was expecting that and was not the least bit surprised or put off. I will say that this game looks to lean a bit more towards the West with its approach to open world and such than the first one. I do like very much that there are branching aspects to the story and setting, where a choice can decide whether a character makes it or not or whether you even encounter certain races at all throughout the whole thing.

I think Xenoblade X will be good, but wont be as good as the original.

Why? Because it seems to be more grindy and less story oriented than its predecessor. XC had the right balance.

But you know... i can be wrong. We shall see.

I have worries when people say it is not as story oriented as Xenoblade Wii, because Xenoblade Wii's story was far less detailed or interesting than Xenogears or even Xenosaga, and it was much more spaced out. I didn't like it nearly as much as those games. If this game has even less story, that means the game is even worse than Xenoblade Wii.

This is really disappointing, that must mean all of the story is at the beginning, because all the playthroughs of the first few hours seemed to make the game look much more story oriented than Xenoblade Wii, so that is what I was expecting.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Well, from what I've gathered there's a bit of Majora's Mask stuff going on.  That is, you get as much story as you pursue.  In MM, you COULD bypass nearly all the side stuff and the story is as flat as kid steals mask, kid threatens world, you stop kid. In XCX, a lot of stuff seems optional and can change stuff.  There are some alien races you can make peace with if you want but don't have to (which affects the story and what content you have access to).  Shoot, there's one race you could conceivably never meet.  Personally, I find that interesting.  Some won't, but I do.

At the very least. Unlike Xenoblade Chronicles this game is setup for direct sequels like Xenogears and Xenosaga. So that might interest you. I've read the story spoiler, and the story is quite decent. It will probably sync more with you than Xenoblade's.
