Forums - Gaming - Phil Spencer accuses Sony of buying FFXIV console exclusivity

It is especially ironic since Microsofts solution to everything was always throwing money at it.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Yeah he is getting whiny... he could easily change it around, but they've messed up.

$1b or whatever it was on NFL, $2b on Minecraft... they could have brought *ALOT* of content, or even better made so much content people would have wanted to go to MS in droves to get the exclusive content... but nope, lets waste billions on stuff that really isnt a benefit to gamers.

Exactlyyyyy!!!

Xbox fans talking about good businesses like they own Microsoft stocks, when as gamers, that money could have been used sooo much better for better games.

But hey, if someone wants to wear a fake suit and tie, let him.

SE said themselves its because Microsoft won't allow cross-play.

But it has been allowed for quite some time in Xbox?

OT: He's right, it is a business decision and we will ask life with, just like we always have. I have no problem with these deals but it is of course annoying when your favorite game end up on a competing platform exclusively.

What game has allowed cross-play with Playstation?

I misread, I thought people meant crossplay with PC which MS announced at the beginning of 2015.

I'm sorry but Sony is going bankrupt while MS continues to print money.

So no one believes this 3rd party exclusivity deal mumbo-jumbo because its usually done by the side with more $$$$

Huh... Still with the Sony going bankrupt bullcrap. The XBox division has more chances to get sold than Sony failing.

This and his statement how marketshare doesn't influence how easy/hard it is to get 3rd party deals are just simply idiotic statements. C'mon Phil, the devs have said multiple times that they'd love to bring FFXIV to XB1 but they wont due to Microsoft's cross-play policy.

This and so much this. Like how stupid do you think people are for them to not have an idea that getting a third party deal is easier and cheaper if you have 50% of the market. And now just lying on SE and Sony when SE straight up said they want the game on X1 but micro isn't allowing crossplay and we are now seeing the real Philly Spence.

Thanks jlmurph!

What happened here is that MS now have a PR narrative they wish to push and that is it's Sony and not them that buy 3rd party exclusivity. The problem is they're not being cleer about it and are now taking every opportunity to push that narrative, even if it completely contradicts what SE have said in the passed.

The PS5 Exists.

Phil's right, after all it's not like tomb raiders a timed exclusive or anything, because that would be super dumb considering how well the last tomb raider sold on the PlayStation.

Oh, wait.

Pot, kettle, black.
