LOL.

The obvious answer is that the Xbox One got $150 cheaper to own than the year before it.  That is a price drop.

Not really. You can get an xbox one with kinect for $500 today if you want to. You can get a tb xbox one for $400 and a 500gb xbox one for $350. THe only true price cut it got was from 400-350 since you can still get it for #500 with kinect.

Don't be a silly goose, there's no difference. If they removed the controller and decreased the price by $50. That's a standard price drop.

They didnt have a price drop its just adding more options ot the consumer. A price drop would be to drop the kinect and forever unbundle it and then that would eb a price drop. But the only price drop was from 400-350.

I'm only expecting a temporary cut during the holidays so the PS4 doesn't get slaughtered in terms of sales during the holidays in the US, with it only being temporary because the PS4 is still steadily outselling the XB1. There's no need to permanently cut price if sales are good and you're the leading console in sales on a monthly basis.
The XB1 outsold the PS4 by 400k during the November NPD and 225k in December, I doubt Sony wants a repeat of that.

LOL Sony made TONS of money losing slightly in ONE region.  Worldwide they dominated, and made SOOOOOOOOO much more money.

If they drop the price it is to dominated marketshare and flat out make more money.  The Xbox One has only proved that Xbox no longer brings enough competition to Playstation.

I know right, Nov+Dec 2014 didn't count for shit, XB1's catch up in the US has been erased already

And Sony needs to drop the price because?...

How is the PS4 selling compared to last gen? I know it's doing worse than the Wii at this stage in its life but is it doing much better than the 360 and PS3? The 8th gen is basically on Sony's shoulders. Maybe they want to encourage more gamers to take the plunge sooner rather than later.

Of course, it would be more credible to hear this from Sony instead of their main competitor...

A price drop by definition gives more consumers options, more people have the option to afford it,

the reason its a price drop is because the MSRP of the base unit dropped in price,

1. To own an XB1 it cost $500

2. With unbundle, an XB1 cost $400 to own.

This is a price drop/cut.

It doesn't matter how it is acheived. End of story.

The reason a PS4 holiday only price cut makes sense is not because of some magical playbook, but because it will make the more money then if it was at 400$. Holiday sales will already be high, lowering the price even by 50$ makes it super attractive and multiplies that boost.

A price drop is to lower the standard model with the kinect which they did nto do. Tjey unbundled it so they did not drop the price they just unbundled the hardware so the consoel can still be mroe affordable. The only true price drop they had was from 400$ to 350$ for the 500gb model.

Edit- Now if microsoft were to bundle the kinect and  price the xbox one ar $400 then thats a price drop.

The kinect stopped being the standard the second it was made optional, what was the most recent kinect game released? KSR in 2014?

How can you say the Kinect is the standard when they barely support it anymore. You're reaching here don't you think?

Tell me, why is the Kinect the standard?

Well dance central launched last year and i think some other few niche titles. ALso when microsoft updates the bone they always add kinect support for those who bought it. Okay it might not be the standard any more but saying the xbox one got a $150 pprice cut is wrong becayse all that ahppened is a an unbundle and a $50 price cut.
