Gen 7 next year isn't happening. They are literally setting up Pokemon Z with the next movie and Mega Pokemon special. The only think that even slightly lends credence to Gen 7 being next year is Ash already having 6 badges in the anime, and that likely only means that there will be a filler arc next year like there's been almost every generation.

They've been setting up Z since XY and Zygard as a Pokemon wouldn't exist without a Pokemon Z. This stuff doesn't happen last minute. Pokemon doesn't "change their minds mid course." The games have like 2-3 year dev cycles. This game likely started halfway through the developement of XY.

The third version of main Pokémon games can probably be made in a month lol.

Especially with Pokemon bank which will probally be the PC compent to the game. There will be a Pokemon PC app that you can hook your phone to and manage the pokemon you have caught, probally raise them in some minigames and then put them into the Pokemon bank.

That's exactly what Ingress does, get people together, making them go outside and get to know places. There are already Ingress meetups, tours and what not. For the people that say "HURR WHO WOULD WEAR THAT IN PUBLIC IT'S RIDICULOUS"... Do you think playing with a 3DS while taking your commute doesn't make you look like a nerd? Also, Ingress agents already wear gear (aesthetic, non-functional) that shows their alignment. And all of this is for a a no-name game from a no-name studio... What would happen if you attach a household, almost-universally loved name to it?

And if you paid attention to the trailer, you could see that all the "players" were adults, with only Generation 1 pokémon. That's the market for this game, people who grew up with Pokémon, with a deep nostalgia for it, but can't afford the time to breed, train, or everything that require the mainline RPG games. But these adults can afford the smartphones, dataplans and 'travelling' needed by these kind of games.

If you ask me, this move by Nintendo is brilliant. Actually, it could be Nintendo's best idea in years. This is Nintendo moving to the future, to a new level of gameplay and interaction beyond mashing buttons... And well, Pokémon never needed any button-mashing skills to begin with. But then again, for the people that still want to stay on their own, or still have vast amounts of time, the mainline RPG games are staying.

This new game looks like the April Fools that Google made!

ctrl + c, ctrl + v, add a new mega evolution, and you're pretty much done!

Nintendo has stated that their strategy is to use mobile apps to increase the value of their platforms and draw customers in.

I could see that working with an app like this if you could transfer the pokemon you catch into your handheld. That could be pretty cool,

I look forward to it as well, wouldn't say super hyped, but at the same time, not like the rest of the others here.
