I don't think that's really a concern. More importantly, is MS losing a significant amount or any money having their product available in Japan?

I'm guessing the answer is no.

I'd guess MS has lost about $100 AT LEAST for every unit sold at this point. There is a point when you start to profit with whatever you produce, and MS is so far away from that sales number that they probably just try to keep losses at hand.

Even if they're losing a $100 per unit (could be less), you would assume they get some of that back in software sales, subscriptions, accessories, etc.

Xbox One is just there, pushing it on Japanese consumers isn't really a concern. Nintendo, Sony, and MS all know Japan is moving away from home consoles. They all rather invest more in the west.

perseverance I suppose. Actually kind of good considering the 360 and the decent japanese games that it had.
Wonder what their hate is about actually.

To be fair, they did shift 160k software there... that's like a mid-level Vita title all for themselves

But in all seriousness, the Xone will never take off in Japan, so better kill it early or loose more money on ti :|

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

And people were saying it would sell one unit! HA! MS really showed them doubters.

A video of Spongebob wearing glasses and looking through a dictionary.

Spongebob: Those words... Is it possible to use them in a sentence together like that?

I would say its common knowledge that Nintendo has always been focused on Japan foremost. I mean hell, "Failure in Japan" is basically spurring the introduction of the NX and the Wii U's small size low power design is aimed at compartmentalized Japanese households.

I completely disagree. When Nintendo funds a game, how it will perform in the west is often a top priority. Especially for Wii U given Japan has been moving away from home consoles. For 3DS, Nintendo obviously works a harder to cater to Japanese gamers. But still views the west as the priority.

Wii U is small because its basically last gen specs. Which is obviously done to keep their prices down and profits higher.

An argument that would be stronger if it wasn't for Gamepad and its continue support despite it driving down profits and keep the MSRP higher then its previous generation.

I'm saying superior specs, like its competitors, would likely require a larger console and higher price.

$299 is where they are at because of that stupid tablet control. In retrospect, I'm sure they regret making the tablet required.
