If you live in the US you actually no longer live in a representative democracy.  You live in an Ogliarchy hiding in plain sight as a representative democracy.

play nice people, if you stray into personal insults they will be moderated.

so well stated.

there is no "war on christianity" as some like to say.  some christians are warring on american in attempt to destroy our fundamental principles: everyone is treated equally in their pursuit of happiness.

Nonsense. Forcing religion would be equivalent to forcing these homosexuals to marry women.

Sorry, no.  When you're the only person who issues marriage licenses in a district, and you refuse to issue them after not just the SCOTUS ruling, but a federal denial of your appeal, you're forcing your views on others.  She has(had) the honorable option of resigning her post in protest, and she would've been commended for sticking by her principles.  In this case, she's wasting taxpayer money, she's in jail, and oh yeah, people are getting married regardless of her views.

Jailed for not doing your job, Wow this world is so fucked up, especially how most people think this is right.

Jailed for not adhering to the Supreme Court and a Federal Judges ruling, actually.  People are held in contempt of court, often.  And yes, jail is absolutely applicable if the judge deems it necessary.  She won't resign, so while I personally don't want to force people to do anything they don't want, I also realize this is bigger than just that.  She has the option to quit.  She won't.  So, jail time.

No fine, suspendend sentence, no community service just straight to jail. What next death sentence?

Fine wasn't in play, because she'd been receiving donations from people.  Now, during the hearing, it was made clear she wasn't asking for them, but they were being sent nonetheless, so the court decided that fining her wouldn't actually have any impact upon her.

Hyperbole is hilarious though, esp. since nobody in the thread is suggesting she receive the death penalty.  Keep using that fear mongering though, it really helps make your case.

I never said anybody suggested that she get the death sentence but if she got it, you would all say she deserves it.
