Any info on off-TV play? There was mention of it earlier on but I've seen no official statement. That'll probably determine whether I get the game or not.

That's nice. But unfortunately it's still a rehash of SF64, with essentially Wii (not Wii U) level graphics, and from what I've heard, no ability to choose branching paths, etc.
It's basically kind of a rushed "Star Fox", just to say they've given us a Star Fox. On the one hand, I'd like it to sell well enough to let them know people still want SF. But on the other hand.....I really do not feel like wasting my money on something that is NOT the full blown SF64 sequel that I and many like me have been waiting for for a decade and a half.

I believe there is off-TV play, because you can switch around the views between TV and Gamepad, so you can probably play the game fully on the gamepad just like you should be able to play it only on the TV. |
Do you have a source for that?

I dont think so there will be off-TV play because you will using gamepad and TV for playing.

I won't ignore this thread but I still think Star Fox is a quick cash grab uninspired upscaled N64 game with some little extra ideas thrown in. Is it wrong to want more out of a frachise in 2015 than just onrails shooter? |
It's the same situation as Pikmin 3, meaning that it started out as a Wii game. I'm sure the next Star Fox game will look better because it's not going to be affected by something like that.

Yer but it feels like Nintendo trying to please a vocal minority rather than hey i'll do what I want to get the franchise to be liked by a new generation of gamers. They got scared of the adventures path because lots of people wanted just the on-rails shooter. I don't see why they cannot banace itm why does it even need to be on-rails flying? why can't it be liek freelancer were you fly between plannets and enoouter things to do for example?

Stop. It's pretty much widely accepted that gyro controls are the best option in Splatoon. That doesn't just apply to casual players, it applies to pretty much everyone. It's consensus. |
I much prefer the non motion controls in Splatoon...
I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

A vocal minority? The number of people who can't stand Adventures and Assault is not that small. Why do you think Nintendo is rebooting the Star Fox franchise with Zero? By doing that they are pretty much ignoring everything that happened after 64. If Zero does well then it's possible that the next Star Fox is going to be more complex. They are simply testing the waters right now.

I´ve played Splatoon with them and without them and I think the game is way more fun with them, and most of the people seems to think that, if they were awfull or unintuitive be sure people would look the options to turn it off, is pretty easy no matter how casual you are (casual =/= dumb) |
You can't use subjective opinions to argue objectively that something is more or less fun than anything else. That quickly becomes a cop-out. That's what I'm saying here. Whether YOU think they're more fun and want to justify that by saying the majority thinks so is incredibly arguable. From that, I can go into the argument of attach rates over time, and we could delve into insanity trying to find out how many players actively continue the game on a weekly basis, where we could figure out, say, that the game only has 150k active players a week. That 70-80% suddenly comes into a lot more perspective, in that instance.
But I'm not arguing that, because Nintendo wouldn't announce active player counts like this were a Halo game. Unless they had a huge amount of active players and wanted to brag, of course lol. I was making one point with that statement, and that's that opinion=/=fact.
As an aside, I will say that outside of Smash, Nintendo fans tend to cave into Nintendo's desires for control schemes pretty quickly. That's 100% because until like this game, outside of Smash, a control scheme was forced, or irrelevant (say, Xenoblade). I'd like to see somebody dive into the metrics and see how many people even changed the scheme to see what they liked, and how many just took the standard and rolled with it. But we won't ever get that because that's a tough study to do on any console, let alone Nintendo's lock-and-key consoles. But now I'm digressing lol.
You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt! I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading. After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

That's fine, obviously there will always be people who prefer dual analog control. I'm just saying it's widely accepted that motion controls are better. |
I mean. It might be the majority opinion that people like motion controls better. But it doesn't mean they are better.
