Forums - Gaming - So apparently people have been having an issue with the new Mafia 3.

I've been seeing a lot of comment from playing saying that its ridicolous that black characters can be in a Mafia game. And that a black main character is unrealistic. Some going as far saying they won't be buying it when if they had watched the Gamescom video about the developers talking about it they would realise that the main group of charactes would be warring against the Italian mafia. I mean the definition of the word Mafia is any organised group using extortion or other criminal methods. So I really don't see the issue here.

Do you see an issue with this game?

Nope, namely the settings, why is it unbelievable.

More garbage from the Internet gaming community of today. If this game was released 10 years ago no one would care. Just dismiss the hate and move on.

People shouldn't get butthurt about race accuracy in video games
If you get so butthurt about this to the point where you aren't buying the game anymore, you are probably a closeted racist or something.

bet: lost

Considering Mafia II was well received, I'm sure Mafia III will be fine once it actually comes out. People just need something to latch onto and complain about, and especially if they can make it about race (Super Mario Maker hand, anybody?), they will take it and run a marathon with it.

Really? People complained about that? For once we see the other crime families besides the Italian one and yet people complain? Or do these people have no historic sense besides Hollywood and really think crime back then was only by those Italian people?

This is the main problem. People either associate "mafia" with the italian mob, and at times, a bit with the japanese and russian people. They can't see further from it.

I think people have all sort of issues with Mafia 3. Just one example:

Now, everyone who played Mafia 1 remembers how authentic cars behaved vs how arcadish this shit looks.

As for setting - yeah, I'm with those who doesn't like it one bit and was actually hoping for some Las Vegas 60s Godfather alike stuff.

I didn't get a chance with 1 but loved 2. It was rather empty but still. They definitely need to change that exploding shit. I don't have a problem with the crew or setting though. They need to nail the music and it should get people in that mood set.
