Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony says it’s ‘very likely’ more remasters are coming

As long as the new games keep coming for those of us who played those game on ps3 than all good.

Don't want gaming to end up like hollywood where you see more remakes that new content in cinemas lol.

I don't mind remasters. But I do think Sony should be more clever and put more effort with what title they bring over.

The God of War 3 remaster is something I wouldn't support as there is very little meaningful improvements and new content to justify its existence, let alone a purchase. On the other hand, Gear of War: Ultimate Edition is remasters done right.

These are just my thoughts on the matter

PS4 has a wide number of exclusive and most have poor sales. The widely marketed PS4 exclusives are doing modest numbers as well because they underwhelmed.

You know what PS4 games are doing particularly well? The same ones on X1. :-p

PS4 has a much bigger userbase than X1, yet the exclusive software sales disparity isn't that big. That tells me Sony is doing something wrong.

Both the PS4 and the XBO has bigger userbases than the Wii U, yet the exclusive software sales disparity is massive. In the Wii U's favour. That tells me both are doing something wrong.

Seriously, each recurring franchise released on the PS4 thus far is likely to be the bestselling in the franchise. How is that bad?

Wii U is pretty much dependent on Mario games. Anyhow, Wii U is different aiming for a different audinece... people that still want Mario games and it hasn't been enough to make the Wii U a success.

Each recurring PS4 franchise should be selling better, but what keeping that from happening is the games aren't very good. The Order for example, that should have been huge. If it wasn't a bad game that would have been a great success for Sony. PS4 has the audience to move a ton of 1st party software but lacks the quality.

X1 has better exclusives and its moving exclusive software at par with PS4. That wouldn't be if Sony was doing better with its games.

Yup on all accounts (though XBO exclusive software is not selling on par with PS4 exclusive content)

However, I'm fairly certain we will see this change in 2016. Sony's exclusive lineup thus far has clearly been lacking, but 2016 is shaping up to be a massive year for Playstation exclusives. UC4 and SFV alone will be massive, add to that Horizon, R&C and TLG, and possibly Gran Turismo 7 (Which is supposedly coming before 2017).

Actually, with backwards compatability xbox one will have more games overall than ps4 in every way.

So 360 games now count as XB1 games? I can't keep up with these goalposts.

Didn't you know, a feature that maybe 10% of owners will use is the XBO's secret weapon.  Why do you think XBO won the month of June WW.  Oh, wait...it didn't.  Well, it at least won the month of June in the US...oh, wait...nevermind.  Guess people didn't care about that feature as much as Xbox fans claimed.

doesn't take much time for devs and we're getting plenty of new games as well

I see that you have already picked up on Sony's strategy and applied it to your posting style. But that's lame and boooooring. Where's the new content?

Sorry I'm too busy playing Witcher 3 and anticipating Until Dawn.  Did you say something?

You were awful in Tropic Thunder.

The only "awful" thing about my Tropic Thunder performance is being robbed by that corpse Ledger for the Oscar.  They should have given it to death since he's the only reason anyone talks about the Joker.

More games? Those bastards.

+1.  LOL they make money, so they will keep coming.  In my opinion the people complaining about remasters are just like die-hard atheists - stfu if you don't believe.  No one is making you join in, so leave those who do alone.

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

[Prediction Made 6/18/2014]

Remasters are usually made by specialist studios, so it is not as if a compromise is being made between new games and re-releases. It is also quite funny the shit Sony is getting for planning to make more re-releases in the same month both Rare Replay and Gears Ultimate come out.

It hasn't been officially released yet.  It's still in preview mode for certain Xbox One owners.  And let's be real.  Nothing the Xbox One does will ever give it a sales advantage over the PS4.  Last gen was a fluke.  Sony is the "go to" for the majority of gamers.

Doesn't mean BC isn't a desired or awesome feature.

Depending on what games get added to the BC, significantly more than 10% will take advantage of it.

Also, I love how Sony fans exagerate the hype of BC. Nobody ever said it was going to cause a massive sales boost. And if it had the potential to do that it wouldn't happen until the holiday.
