Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Do Wii U owners feel disappointed?

I have really learned to love my WiiU. The Eshop, the nintendo 1rst party games, the odd few excellent 3rd party ports (looking at you Arkham City and Deus Ex). Free online, off tv play. It's a great system that just never got up enough steam.

Honestly I wouldn't say that i'm disappointed since there are Wii U games out there that I have yet to buy. But at the same time I can't say I will be buying the NX, at least not at launch or anywhere near that period.

"Basically had this and that"

These are just considered the high quality first party Nintendo games. It's not surprising the last year won't have a lot.

Also, The Wii had six years. The Wii U did not launch until November 2012.

Ya I'm not really excited for a 5th year that will have 2 major releases.

Wii had 6 years which is even worse meaning we had 2 full years of shit support.

Yup, Wii in 2011. and 2012. had terrible support.

Yep just like N64 in 2001 & GC in 2006 had terrible support so I'm confused why people need Wii U to have 5+ years before being replaced.

People after Xbox360/PS3 consoles assuming that every console needs to have around 7 years support, but Nintendo consoles have life span around 5 years, and last one or two years of their life they have weak support.

Yes, I am disappointed.

1) I bought a wii u thinking that it would at least have smash bros and mario kart 8. Smash bros does a great job in balancing the competitive side and the casual side while adding plenty of content. Mario kart 8 however feels like a downgrade (not only does the gameplay feel the same as the wii version, but the local multiplayer has gotten worse)

2) I bought the wii u under the impression that it would have decent third party. In 2012 this launch plan included zombiu, Rayman legends, lego city undercover, and wonderful 101. That's 4 third party exclusives!!! Not only that, but crysis 3, arkham origins, injustice, dying light and aliens were all in the works to make full use of the wii u along with the definitive edition ports of nfs, deus ex and darksiders. Now the Wii u only has a small dlc for skylanders as its exclusive third party offering ... Pathetic.

3) if I don't like a new release (splatoon, mario party 10, etc.) It's really sad that I have to wait months before another game (that I may not like) releases.

Just like Nintendo's recent e3, I had very low standards for Nintendo this gen, and even then they managed to disappoint me

Your fault for buying a Nintendo console for third party support lol. And again your fault for having bad taste (liking Mario Kart Wii and not liking Splatoon).

Nintendo is actually doing a better job this gen compared to last gen for me. How I loath Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Wii Music, Wii Party, Skyward Sword, Metroid: Other M, etc.

The Wii only had 3 amazing exclusive games for me (Metroid Prime 3, SMG 1 &2). TP was amazing as well, but also on GC.

I'll be buying Xenoblade Chronicles tomorrow, so I'll let you know how I like that one. And I'll play it on the amazing gamepad, so the graphics won't look absolutely disgusting. :)

You misunderstood me. I did not buy a wii u for third party support, instead I expected it to have decent (didn't have to be the best) support. No other respectable console has had this little third party support.

likewise, I never said I like mario kart wii (double dash is my favorite since that actually changed up gameplay).

Suddenly I have bad taste in not liking a game with no voice chat, basically no local co-op, low content compared to other shooters, and a launch dictated by nintendo and not the buyer? Splatoon may be fun for you, but I really don't see it as the defining game that everyone here makes it out to be. I'm pretty sure reviewers also got their say in it.

The fact that the Wii got 2 3d Marios, an exclusive LOZ, and a metroid game (and collection), is more than enough proof that the Wii u is a step down.

Have fun with xenoblade, you get used to the visuals, which are actually really good for a Wii game.

Double Dash is also my favorite. :p

Splatoon has a decent amount of content now. But yeah, I hope the sequel has 2 player splitscreen online like Mario Kart.

Whether or not Zelda U is exclusive to the Wii U will not affect my fun for the game tbh. I had more fun with TP on the Wii than SS... I also never played WW before, so the HD Remaster was amazing for me.

I don't feel disappointed, but at the same time I can't say that I feel too satisfied! Regarding the NX, I will buy it only when its library of games is going to be good enough for me.

No, i feel Betrayed.

I do feel a little cheated and disappointed, yet I feel like I got my money's worth too. Wii U was the first home console I had bought in a long time, the 2014 E3 show and the momentum the system had from MK8 convinced me to pick one up.

I remember there were also quotes from Nintendo around that time saying they would not drop the Wii U just because it wasn't selling that great. So I figured I'd take the dive and buy it last September, even though the 300 dollar price tag is a little steep for someone like me who lives paycheck to paycheck and is in the process of saving for a wedding.

So I bought it and loved it, and even though there weren't many games coming out this year, I had plenty to catch up on from the previous couple years. I was so excited for this E3 to see what else Nintendo had up their sleeves for this great, underrated console of theirs that I bought. Then, E3 happened, and wow... my enthusiasm for Wii U just basically came to a halt. I was super disappointed over this last E3, and I feel like it's pretty lame of Nintendo to be throwing up a big middle finger to the 3-4 million people who boutht Wii U, their "new system" within the last year. I'm sure next E3 will have a new 3D Mario, Zelda, and more, but it'll all be stuff that SHOULD HAVE been on Wii U.

So yes, I definitely feel a little disappointed, and will be getting a Ps4 this Christmas. Definitely NOT buying NX at launch.
