That's so sad, I have no proper words. And unexpected, I thought that he was getting better because they detected it early.

I knew he was ill but I suppose I convinced myself that he was on the recovery so I was shocked to find out about his departure. Definitely not the kind of news I want to wake up to.
Iwata always felt like someone who understood, respected and valued the craftmanship behind game creation and I really appreciated his efforts to create a more personal bond between Nintendo and its fans.
Rest in peace Iwata-san.
Tachikoma said: Today at work we were given the day off to play Nintendo games while various interviews of iwata over the years played on the main screen, was a nice way to let us pay our respects.
As a way to pay my own respects on these forums, anyone even remotely trolling or making snide comments, ANYWHERE on this forum regarding Iwata, even "jokingly", will earn themselves a 7 day ban, regardless of how much trouble I get in to for doing so. |
Long live Nintendo.
Your heroes, Gunpey Yokoi, Hiroshi Yamauchi & Satoru Iwata will forever be remembered.
My deepest thoughs to his family & friends...
I agree 100% with you Tachikoma, zero tolerance for smart asses in sad days like the present one!
Your legacy will not be lost, long live Nintendo!

I'm so sad right now I don't know what to say... So many great memories thanks to him. R.I.P., Iwata-san.
RIP Iwata. I'm not a Ninty fan, but it's also sad when a great man dies. He surely was one of those that inspired both collaborators and allies and competitors, and both working or competing with him, besides giving inspiration, pushed them all to do better.
I didn't know he was ill, least of all so gravely, what a sad surprise.
