If Sony stops making such great new IP's every gen i'll lose respect for them.

If Microsoft stops paying third party for games i'll lose respect for them because on their own they suck anyway at creating new things.

I'll lose respect for Nintendo if they stop putting out their primary games because they need them more than ever.

SMT X FE made me lose little respect with Nintendo because it addresses nothing either fanbases want...

But I still hold utmost respect for the majority of their quality games!

Nintendo: If they decide mobile is a million times cheaper and more profitable and only nominally support their dedicated hardware platforms with mediocre budget titles (meaning their dedicated hardware platforms are in a perpetual post-2010 Wii-era drought.); if they decide to abuse DLC and Amiibo exclusive functionality because it's cheap and effective; or if the next Nintendo console or handheld still has a resistive touch screen.

Microsoft: If they only focus on Gears, Halo, and Forza so much that they don't give the proper time and budget to less prominent projects like Quantum Break, ReCore, and Sea of Thieves; if they focus so much on trying to undercut the price of the PS4 that they have no money to spend on game development; or if decide that the only way they can win is by appealing to the lowest common denominator and focus on sports and military shooters.

Sony: If they focus so much on video game streaming that they don't make a physical PS5; if they encourage their development studios to stop making new IPs because they are more profitable; if Sony doesn't put PS classics on PS4 within the next year; or if they don't make active efforts to get PSN faster and more stable within the next few years now that they have increased income from mandatory PS+ for multiplayer.

Nintendo having an equally bad e3 in 2016

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

I don't know what to think about Microsoft. Nowadays, some fans will say "they've corrected their errors. How can you still hate them for what they did in 2013"? You wanna know why? Because they habitually try and screw us over. Don't try and pull the wool over our eye and tell us to "forget" about their mistakes because they "fixed" them now. Because, they're 3 for 3 in screwing the consumer and then asking for forgiveness afterwards. They abandoned the original Xbox after only 4 years and screwed those owners. They rushed the 360 to the market, with it's 68% fail rate, and knew proper R&D wasn't done, just to get a jump for marketshare advantages. Then denied that it was a problem for years. And then they wanted to force DRM on us, and then forced us to deal with Kinect (saying it's "integral" to XBOne). Yea, they addressed the RROD fiasco and they addressed the DRM/Kinect fiasco, so you can tell me to "stop being bitter" because they've corrected their mistakes, but they wouldn't need to fix anything if they would just do their due diligence in delivering us a console. Boning us (3 times in a row), then saying sorry, and being told be fans to "get over it"........

So, after this long rant, for MS, what can they do to lose my respect? Nothing. Can't lose what you never had.

As far as Nintendo, they lost my respect a long time ago, after going from the leading console maker, to being ones stuck in the dark ages. They refused to move from catridges to discs for the longest time (which burned them from 1995 - 2001), and they still don't have a DVD player in their consoles, opting to instead to use a proprietary media. Also, they continue to alienate 3rd parties while still focusing on Mario and Zelda. So, essentially, ignoring new franchises and sticking to the old ones. MS gets made fun of for "only having Halo, Fable, Gears, Forza". Something similar can be said about Nintendo. Not to mention, they still believe online gameplay isn't a big deal? Wtf?!

How could Sony lose my respect? Well, they have, as well. First off, mandating PS+ was wack, but I understand online features aren't free. But, to try and quell the disapproval of that requirement for online multiplayer with the addage of "free games" and then the free games are 99% small indie titles? Don't get me wrong, I like indie games, but the PS4 is approaching it's 2nd full year on the market. I can't even get Knack or Killzone? They don't even sell those games new anymore, at retail, so they can't possibly obtain anymore sales from them. Only "AAA" games we've gotten are an expansion (First Light) and MGS: Light (Ground Zeroes). Great games in their own regard, but still. Not to mention, since the launch of PS4, you've taken that PS4 "free games" mentality and stuck it to the PS3. Before we were getting Vanquish, Bioshock, DMC, Tomb Raider, Dead Space, Uncharted, etc.....now it's more indies, even though the PS3 has hundreds of retail games. Don't make me have to pay for multiplayer and then undercut the feature that made it popular when it wasn't mandated. That's bullshit.

Long story short, MS never had my respect, Nintendo lost mine a long time ago, and Sony recently lost it.

Microsoft have already done more than enough. They tortured me for 2 decades with their shitty Windows OS until I finally switched to Apple. They straight out ruined many games companies and killed for example Age of Empires, one of my favourite series. They brought a console which I had to send in 9 times (!!), which drove me almost to insanity and made me switch to PS3 eventually. They made so many shitty products that I'm done with them for good. Not a single Microsoft product is still in my household. Not even Office. I switched to Papyrus Autor.

Edit: Oh wait, the 360 is bound to be here somewhere... but I don't know where. =P

Sony made some really really shitty moves in the past, like that whole rootkit shit with music and whatnot. They also many times tried to force standards on us that nobody needed, Memory Sticks for example. But when it comes to hardware, they never stop to impress me. Not once in my life had I a failure with Sony TVs, MP3 players, Smartphones, gaming consoles or whatever else. And that stuff is also stupidly high quality (if you're willing to pay for it). I paid for example 400 € for my Sony MDR-1RNC headphones. It's really expensive for headphones, but those suckers run without a problem for two years now. And the sound is ridiculously good, I love it. For me to lose respect, they would have to start bringing only shitty hardware. I mean, I know they also have some bad products, but you tend to only find them in the low budget range. And quite honestly, you get what you pay for there.

About Nintendo, they lost me long ago. I know that their games are still good, sometimes even masterpieces. But as a gamer since 1989 who grew up with the NES, I'm simply sick and tired of their never-dying mascots. I don't want another Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Yoshi, Starfox, Pokemon, you name it. I had enough of those for my entire life. My impression was always that Nintendo just didn't grow with their customers, which Sony did. And I'm also turned off by them for always having innovative ideas for their hardware, but not so much for their software. I would like it the other way around.

Microsoft, Sony nor Nintendo ever had my respect. That's reserved for people/ companies that actually do stuff for the greater good.

Rocket League is both great and good. Praise Psyonix!

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

The only one I even slightly respect is Nintendo and that's because out of the three, they stick to their guns no matter what. To me, that's admirable. The other two, I just buy because they have games I like to play. It's that simple.

I think the idea of making a huge company into something like a relative, where you are loyal blindly, and worship... it's silly. It's no different than those people who campaign for politicians because they believe said politician is actually a GOOD PERSON... when in fact, they're just another... politician.

Why is this admiarble?  Wind Waker was the wrong thing, that's why Twilight Princess happened and why Wind Waker is one of the weakest selling Zelda games.

When you are wrong, you should admit it and learn from it.  Not keep doing the wrong thing.

"You should be banned. Youre clearly flaming the president and even his brother who you know nothing about. Dont be such a partisan hack"

In order to loose my respect, Nintendo needs to start releasing bad and broken game, especially bad or broken Zelda game. :)

Not sure about respect... maybe trust is a better term?

MS: I completely do not trust MS ever since Windows ME (okay... maybe after Vista) and suffering multiple RRoD on my poor 20GB Xbox 360 was too much for my heart to take. sob*

Nintendo: I love Ninty they either give me the biggest HOORAH! or the biggest meh. Yes, I'm a closet fan, so no problem here. lol!

Sony: I may play more on Playstation but what they did to the Vita was just horrible and Shenmue 3 kickstarter... unforgivable!
