While I agree, I'd rather they leave out Donkey Kong and other DKC characters. That was part of DKR's charm. The cast was a bunch of misfits.

In a perfect world, Diddy Kong Racing Returns would have a cast of C-Tier Nintendo characters and popular Nindies.

That's a really good idea! I actually love the original DKC roster, particularly Pipsy and Tiptup :) 

Adding more B and C tier characters could give the game more of a unique identity. 

Rusty, Mallo, and Dillon are smart choices. Add several DK characters and a few new faces (that can be spun into their own games) and call it a day.

MK8 is my favorite game of the generation, and even I know it's not perfect. DKRR could be so much better. Better, more varied battle mode. Boss Races. Single player campaign. More varied vehicles. Explorable overworld. No game-crippling collect-a-thon like in the original. Profit.

I'd personally rather it just stuck to the other franchises. I've never been a fan of the... Other Kongs. Krunch is there because he was in the original, but I think they should leave it at that.

New faces representing new "eshop" franchises would be an awesome idea though, and could have a Smash Bros. effect for promoting smaller titles like Boxboy. I'm all for that.

Off Topic - Dillon needs a console game yesterday. That franchise has so much potential.

But it has a perfect item balance, an incredible new battle mode, an amazing track design, interesting rooster, DLC is a god's gift. Obviously nothing is better than Mario Kart 8.
