I understand, from a consumer point of you, why you would want things to happen (and in a large part they will, just slower), but from Japan centric point of view, the PS4 is doing barely better than its home console competitor (wii u), and is doing really horrible when compared gaming centric comptitor (3DS), and in the end that still doesn't change the fact mobiles are becoming even bigger than those markets.

It is really funny that the Wii U is even competition to something like PS4 in any market.

Mobile gaming is only a trend it could collapse like atari did in the 70s. Eventually people get sick about microtransactions, many bad games and the controls.

I don't think so, Atari and Mobiles are two different situations, but I rather not argue that (I need to run soon, or I might have considered it). My main argument is that right now Mobiles > Nintendo > Sony in terms of software and hardware in Japan currently, and it doesn't seem to change that dramatically in the near future. Maybe next year, Sony will be ahead of Nintendo for that whole year, but at the same time that could easily turn around the following year.

(Anyways need to run, have fun)

pokemon alone bigger than entire sony franchise in japan

Nintendo won't let them have it so easy. At this point, VITA is murdered anywhere but Japan, and PS4 isn't setting the country on fire.

3DS has been consistent, and it is yet to get some more Japanese games that ate monsters (pun non intended) sales-wise.

They need to make both upcoming home console Final Fantasies they're main priority. Xbox ain't a treat, and Dragon Quest/Tales are already with them, which is good.... Although it seems ATLUS has jumped from one wagon to another, and they're mostly with Nintendo now.

Only a main entry Pokemon game, an expanded brand new experience on home consoles could "revitalize" the market.

The wiiu and 3DS get not many games for the rest of the year, playstation gets every month a new japanese game. It will continie that way until the NX launches. That list also shows top not overall system software sales

It shows the top 100 best selling games. Aka, essentially the only games of the year that sold well enough to give a damn about (considering number 100 sold 81k, anything beneath it isn't anything to be concerned about).

But you know what, I will humor you and add up every single sale of those games and compare Nintendo and Sony. This is obviously what you want, right?

Nintendo (3DS & Wii U): 51 Games / Units Sold: 23,049,103

Sony (PSV & PS4): 49 Games / Units Sold: 7,954,327

The thing is, the games that the PSV and PS4 typically get don't sell over 1m, or even 500k. Like, just last week the PS4 got DMC4, but that game will be lucky to reach even 100k LT. And the Vita recently got The Legend of Heroes, but that probably won't even reach 50k. Meanwhile, the Wii U hasn't gotten a new game since Splatoon but that's nearing 400k and the 3DS just got Rhythm Heaven, which is close to 300k by now and it's getting Fire Emblem this week, which will open around 350k.

The stipulation that you just created that Nintendo gamers just don't buy games and Sony gamers do is horrendously wrong, I almost feel bad that I had to spell all of this out.

Edit: And if you think Sony will sell more games than Nintendo this year (in Japan) with games like Monster Hunter X, Yo-Kai Watch Busters, Yo-Kai Watch 3, Fire Emblem Fates, The Great Ace Attorney, Animal Crossing: HHD, Dragon Quest VIII, Super Robot Wars, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Mario Maker and Illusory Revelations on the horizon with Splatoon, Rhythm Heaven, Dragon Quest X, Xenoblade X, Mario Party 10, Girls Mode 3, Puzzle & Dragons, Bravely Second, etc. recently released, then you're sadly mistaken.

Sony has Square and Capcom. They're most likely going to be successful this gen.

Well, it's easy since they have the only relevant home consoles in Japan

That literally makes zero sense.

The reality doesnt make sense ?

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Your reality isn't reality. Wii U is outselling ps4 for the past month. If the ps4 was the only relevant one then why is it being beaten there? hmmmmmmm?

How is that the reality? Please explain it to me. I'd love to hear some facts.

Be successful with what? Reclaiming Japan or beating Nintendo? (which is not Sony's main rival in Japan anymore).

And one more thing. Last gen Sony had Square and Capcom too (Xbox doesn't count, cause Xbox don't sell in Japan). Yet they didn't "reclaim Japan" with them. The only way for Sony to reclaim that country is to make a new handheld/Sony gaming smartphone or release something on PS4 that does the job that Pokémon, Youkai Watch, Monster Hunter and Dragon Quest couldn't do for the 3DS.

I am a Nintendo fanatic.
